Rugby news is a matter of interest for many of its fans. Rugby evolved as one of the most popular sports in the recent times. With the popularity of the game, the number of its fans increased tremendously too.
The history of the game goes like this. Between the year 1750 and 1859, the game was played in a bit different style. Handling the rugby ball was allowable but no player was permitted to run with the ball towards the opposition's goal. Number of players was not fixed too. The concept of running with the rugby ball in hand was introduced lately in 1859 and 1865. First on paper rules of the rugby ball evolved in 1870.

Rugby Union:
Though rugby evolved only out of football, but its popularity emerged world-wide gradually. Rugby union is a national game of not one or two countries but a number of countries. It enjoys the position of national game in the countries like-Madagascar, South Africa, Wales, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa. Rugby union is one of the most renowned and loved forms of Rugby. The game is looked after and overseen by The International Rugby Board or the IRB. Dublin, Ireland is the headquarters of the IRB.
As a matter of interesting fact, a form of rugby union- Rugby Sevens is scheduled to be admitted into the Olympics as well from the year 2016 onwards. This programme will be from the country Rio de Janeiro. Before its presentation in 2016, it is estimated to be played and demonstrated at the London Olympics to be held in 2012.
Rugby union is played on both professional as well as non-professional levels in the three tiers. The first-tier union is subjugated by the countries- England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, France, South Africa, Australia, Italy and Argentina. The 2nd and 3rd tier unions are dominated by- the United States, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Chile, Namibia, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Spain, Romania, Uruguay and Portugal.
Rugby League:
Just like the Rugby Union, the other form of Rugby-The Rugby League is also played at both professional and part-time levels. Rugby League initiates two major tournaments. These are popular and major tournaments held World-wide. These two tournaments are- The Super League and the National Rugby League which is Australasian. These two championship leagues are played across Australasia and Europe.
Besides such renowned international huge tournaments, Rugby League is also played on non-professional and semi-professional levels in the states of Lebanon, the United States and Russia.
