Diseases Caused From Protein Deficiency

We all know that protein plays a vital role in our survival, from providing energy to promoting muscle growth and recovery. But, did you also know that there are a number of serious diseases that are caused by not having enough protein in our diets?

Protein deficiencies are caused by one of two things: unhealthy eating habits and malnutrition. The majority of cases of protein deficiency are caused by not eating enough, or the right, protein-rich foods. But, there are some cases of patients who suffer from conditions known as congenital protein C or S deficiencies, which can cause unusual clotting of the blood.

A well-known condition caused by these deficiencies that is recently coming to light is thrombosis. You may have seen news stories in the past few years about people with this condition and air travel, with some cases of the sufferers actually dying.

There are a number of other health conditions that can be attributed to not having enough protein in your diet. Some of these conditions include breast cancer, heart disease, colon cancer and osteoarthritis. Low blood pressure, a low heart rate, and anemia are also conditions that can be caused in part by not having enough of the right proteins in your diet. Other issues people who do not get enough protein may face are cirrhosis of the liver, the shrinking of muscle tissue, and edema.

Malnutrition In Third World Countries Caused By Protein Deficiencies

We see the commercials nearly every time we watch television. Images of children in third world countries, who are sick and dying from malnutrition, haunt us. Much of this malnutrition comes from a protein deficiency known as kwashiorkor, and is mainly found in infants who are weaned.

Because the food they are weaned with lacks the proteins these children need to develop strong muscles and be protected from a number of diseases, they often develop a condition known as marasmus. This is when a lack of protein causes body tissues to degenerate, or waste away. Children with this condition often experience growth and other developmental problems.

Dietary Sources of Protein

It is not difficult to get more protein in your diet, and it doesn't have to taste bad either, which is a common misconception about many "diet" foods. Some of your favorite dishes, such as steak, fish, beans and more are loaded with protein, and a single serving of one of these dishes can even provide the total recommended daily intake of protein.

There are foods that are complete proteins and those that are incomplete proteins. Contrary to popular belief, you can get all of the protein you need in your diet to avoid a number of health issues with incomplete proteins. Just eat them in combination, and you will be getting your recommended daily intake of protein.

Below you will find many delicious, protein-packed foods, and the amount of protein they contain per serving or gram. These foods include meat, fish and poultry, milk products, nuts, fruits and vegetables, and grains.

Get Your Recommended Daily Intake of Protein With Supplements

If you aren't getting enough of the right proteins in your diet, for whatever reasons, you can get the protein that you need through a number of different types of protein supplements. These supplements are available in powder, liquid and capsule form, and are used by a number of people, including bodybuilders, athletes, dieters, and people recovering from surgery and other health issues.

Protein Powders - If you are looking for versatile supplements that can be used in most of your favorite recipes, protein powders are the way to go. In their unflavored forms, these powders can be used in just about any recipe you can think of. All you need to do is add a couple of scoops to the dish you are preparing. Or, you can get flavored powders, such as chocolate, vanilla, berry and fruit punch, which can be used to make lots of great-tasting shakes, smoothies and slushies. These drinks are a terrific way to make sure that your kids are getting enough protein in their diets, especially if they are fussy eaters.

Liquid Protein Supplements - You can get liquid protein supplements in pre-prepared drinks that are portable and very tasty. Or, many liquid protein supplements, like their powdered counterparts, can be added to many recipes, including shakes and smoothies. Many of these supplements are milk-based, so if you or your family members are lactose intolerant, or are allergic to milk and milk products, you need to carefully read the ingredients to make sure the supplement you are purchasing does not contain these products.

Protein Capsules - This form of protein supplement is pretty much self-explanatory. Powdered or liquid protein in concentrated forms is put into capsules, which you can easily take with a glass of water, milk or juice.

Ermine's Fall From Breeders Cup Contender Status

Ermine is a 4-year-old filly by Exchange Rate out of the Thirty Six Red mare Red Mischief. Trainer Ronny Werner brought Ermine along nicely for her 3-year-old campaign in 2006 and Ermine steadily rose to the top of the division. After an outstanding second to Lemon's Forever in the Grade One Kentucky Oaks, defeating Wait A While, she regressed in the Grade One Acorn to finish fifth behind the winner Bushfire. Ermine rebounded in November to defeat a green Ginger Punch under second level allowance conditions and then captured the Grade Two Fall City, defeating Joint Effort.

Ermine then reached the top of her game in the Grade One Santa Maria, narrowly losing to Sugar Shake, and in the Grade One Santa Margarita was edged out by division leader Balance. Finally in the Grade One Apple Blossom, Ermine was a winner by virtue of defeating Take D Tour and Round Pond. Those three superlative efforts took a little out of Ermine.

She finished fourth in the Grade Two Fleur De Lis and last in the Grade One Go For Wand, which was won by Ginger Punch. Now she's running on grass and Ermine really isn't bred for it. It's suspicious when a horse is suddenly switched from a surface h'e having trouble with to a new surafce. And this was the case with Ermine. In the Grade 2 First Lady Stakes, on the Keeneland lawn, Ermine finished a well beaten seventh. Let's hope this turf experiment is over soon. Now an experienced 4-year-old filly, Ermine's best puts her in the hunt for the Breeders Cup but the 2007 Distaff Division is extremely deep.

The Marvelous World of Metaphors

Recognize metaphors from every angle and round up more
insight into your own innovation. Nobody can do it better than
you can!

A metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase
that means one thing is used to describe an object or ideas
to which it is not literally applicable -- a ship is said to plow the sea.

Denise Shekerjian

Webster defines Metaphor:

The application of a word or phrase to an object or concept,
which it does not literally denote: in order to suggest
comparison with another object or concept, as in "A mighty
fortress is our God."

A figure of speech founded on resemblance, by which a word
is transferred from an object to which it properly belongs to
another in such a manner that a comparison is implied
though not formally expressed, thus, "that man is a fox" is a
metaphor; but "that man is like a fox," is a simile or
comparison.

Whenever we explain or communicate a concept by likening
it to something else, we are using a metaphor.

Tony Robbins,
Awaken the Giant Within.

Don't let bad metaphors be a part of anyone's master plan.
Especially yours! Change your metaphors to a process of
renewed awakening.

All of us and most businesses when advertising use
Metaphors.

"Get right to the top and reach out!" Picture a beautiful
woman mountain climber, reaching out with outstretched
arms on the top of a snow-capped mountaintop.

webseller.net

Metaphors are common groups of words, which contribute a
punch to a meaning by association.

There are different ways of defining metaphors. For instance
dictionaries explain it as a word or a phrase to illustrate a
real thing or action in its relationship to something else.

In our capacity to illustrate the importance of metaphors in
creativity we are going to use them in association as related
to the qualities which are attributed to creative people.
According to most authorities creative people have the
following characteristics. But don't we all have them? We
hope to share ways in which you can use them to initiate your
interpretation in the transformation of your own life.

· Innovative - Ideas -- Change

· Originality

· Diversity -- Versatility -- flexibility - resilience

· Humorous

· Aware,--Focused--Committed

So let's go and see how we can apply some of these
metaphors to each of these characteristics as applied to
creativity. It is interesting how metaphors can stimulate
thinking into so many different avenues by association.
Applying your own interpretations to metaphors can lead to a
remarkable world of similarities in your own thinking and
association to incredible dimensions.

We are all familiar with the everyday usage of popular
metaphors such as:

"Do you see?" "When you can see through the Hype!" "I'm
bursting at the seam!"
"The eyes of the customer." Am I on a Wild Goose Chase?"
The list is endless.

Let's start our journey into the exhilarating "constellations of
creativity."

Ideas, Innovation, Change. Freshness.

"No idea is more than an imaginary potency, a mushroom
cloud (destroying nothing, making nothing) rising from
blinding consciousness."

Saul Bellow, The Bellarosa
Connection.

Think of what Saul means by imaginary potency? Doesn't
our imagination rule everything? You can interpret this in
many ways but one can imagine a mushroom in our minds,
stimulating our thinking into an expansive mushroom of
thought. For instance, another perception of mushrooming
may be illustrated by the enormous mushroom effect of the
atomic bomb rising into creative explosive productive ideas.
Aside from the devastating effect of the atomic bomb
visualize only beneficial ideas for mankind, instead of
destruction. What is your interpretation?

"In the mind-world ideas are the indestructible elements
which form the jeweled constellations of the interior life."

Henry Miller "The creative life"

Can you picture one idea leading to a constellation, of
multiple ideas to hold sky full of them? One idea of building
on the other leading into "Who knows what?" Notice even
another metaphor "Who knows what?" Is used to explain
another thought!

"Here,/in the rule of my life/the objects keep changing."
Anne Sexton, "The room of my life"

One of the main characteristics of creative and innovative
people is their ability for flexibility and change. In our world
that is dramatically changing so rapidly isn't it exciting that we
can be a part of it? We are living in one of the most
exhilarating eras for creative changes in all aspects of our
lives. Thankfully most of them are good. Think of ways in
which you can become more flexible, resilient and
adaptable? Is the room in your life opening doors and
windows to let your inner self out?

"Luck never gives, it only lends."
Anon, Swedish proverb

What are you doing to stimulate the luck in your life? Are you
ready for success? Or are you afraid of success? Many
times we don't think about the actual fear some people have
of success. Think hard about it!

"All owned the affairs of men hang by slender thread."
Ovid
"El Ponto"

One can relate this metaphor with simple events, changes,
and incidents and just about anything that can make the
slightest change in our lives to greatness or despair.
Thinking of the slender thread can remind one of the
metaphor, "The Sword of Domacles" when his King, in order
to remind Domacles how precarious his position in life was
at the Palace. At a banquet in honor of Domacles, the King
placed a sword directly over Domacles head, hanging by a
few horsehairs. The implication, "Just a reminder of who is
really the boss!" Couldn't anyone of our simple deeds of
kindness be that simple strand of hair leading to the turning
point in our lives?

Originality

"They sun themselves in the great man's light, and feel it to
be their own element."

Ralph Waldo Emerson, speech "The American scholar,"
Harvard college, Aug. 31, 1837. (They as the masses and
the herd)

Isn't it interesting how Emerson conveys the thought that most
people in this world will bask in the accomplishments of all
those marvelous creative and innovative risk takers? It's a
wonderful experience instead of "following the leader, to
being the leader." A good feeling is when you are the
contributing mentor and "the masses and the herd" bask in
your contributing greatness to their dignity and welfare?
What's wrong with you being their best coach?

"And this I swear by blackest brook of hell,/I am no pick-purse
of another's wit."

Sir Philip Sydney, "Sonnet 74"Astrophel & Stella.

It appears somebody accused him of pilfering an idea as
many other writers, artists, coaches and just about everybody
else has borrowed from somebody else.
When Dad belonged to the National Speakers Association,
he conveyed to us a common statement. "When the speaker
borrows a quote or idea from one speaker, that's stealing but
when he borrows from a whole group of speakers, that's
research!"

We should be grateful that we can contribute to somebody
else's creativity by the letting them copy from us?

==============================================

Diversity

"Every human being is a colony."
Pablo Picaso's Epigraph

The uniqueness of metaphors is the meaning it has only to
you and what perceptions it conjures in your imagination!

Jog your memory as to what the colony of your life is? What
makes up the different colonies within your life that stimulates
the different worlds of your imagination. It could be family,
associations, work, hobby or just about anything that is
empowering and having that phenomenal, enrapturing and
energizing effect in your life?

What does this overused metaphor still mean to you?
"Variety's the spice of life, that gives it all its flavor." William
Cowper, "The Timepiece"
What type of variety do you have continuously adding to
wonderment and resourcefulness?

==============================================

Flexibility

"The rulers (in Japan) our politicians and large businesses.
The ruled our everyone else, the "Grass people," so apathy
termed because they bow in whatever direction the wind
blows."
Reiki Hatsumi

Are you one of the "Grass people?" Are you one of the
media junkies who let's the newspapers, TV news, Internet-
ions, headlines and all the other distractions vying for your
mind, direct you to the way their wind blows? Think of the
enormous possibility of flexibility you can choose to have?

"Of course you don't change a persons nature you retouch it."

Andre', "Home Port Maurois"

Isn't it nice that you can still make choices?

You can choose to change.

You can choose to grow.

You can choose to be your own person.

You can choose love.

You can choose to be creative.

You can choose all of your own choices.

"You must learn to drink the cup of life as it comes, Connie,
without stirring it up from the bottom. That's where the bitter
dregs are."

Agnes Sligh Turnbull, The Rolling Year

Have you ever thought of all of the bad memories,
experiences and episodes in your life that you may be stirring
"The bitter dregs" each day that detract from your potential
creativity and innovation?

==============================================

Humor, Wit

"A sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to our steps
as we walk the tight rope of life."

Anon

Humor is a learned experience. Learning to laugh can be
taught to anyone. It only takes a change of your perception.
Humor is one of the chief characteristics, as related by some
authorities, stimulating our creativity and innovation. Humor
is also great for your health. It not only stimulates your
immune system but it also energizes our brain cells with
those funny little chemicals that make life more interesting.

"Wit ought to be a glorious treat, like caviar. Never spread it
about like marmalade."
Noel Coward

"Humor is really laughing off a hurt. Grinning at misery."
Bill
Mauldin

"Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can."
Elsa
Maxwell

Awareness

'Voynitsky: We used to think of you as almost superhuman,
but now the scales have fallen off my eyes and I see you as
you are.´
Anton Chekhov, Uncle Vanya

Think of yourself with whatever blinders you have covering
your eyes? Each of us perceives everything differently. Of
course, this difference in our perception is what makes us so
unique.

But depending on our background and images planted by
sources even unknown, we may have scales, like some
animals, over our eyes. Removing these scales over our
eyes creates our awareness to the awakened mind.

"On the surface, life is much the same as before...But it is
through-the-looking glass world."

Jeffrey Schmalz, The New York Times, December 20. 1992

Some awareness leads to an allusion as to how we see our
world. How do you see your world?

What is wrong with creating beautiful allusions of what some
people call the "Real World?"

We all experience the awareness of our "Real World" daily
but why not change your world?

"Be the change you want to see in the world."
Gandhi

Best Football Academy in Spain

La Masia is the heart of Barcelona youth system, which located next to the Camp Nou Stadium. It was established in 1979 and now used to develop the young players that have had to leave their families in order to train at Barcelona both in a sporting and intellectual sense.

Apparently they have a total of approximately 260 youth players learning their trade here - Ninety percent of them are Spanish and more than 50 percent Catalans. In fact the current Barca team have 12 first team players who have come from the academy.

There are several youngsters that had lived at La Masia have gone on to play for the first team, such as Josep "Pep" Guardiola (academy years 1984-90), Ivan De la Peña (1991-94), Carles Puyol (1994-98), Andres Iniesta (1996-2001), Víctor Valdes (1996-2000) and Lionel Messi (2000-04).

Pep was touted as La Masia's greatest product. A charismatic player who played 43 caps for Spain and won a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. He led the club to six La Liga titles, one Champions Cup in 1992 and two Spanish Cups.

Puyol, a native Catalunyan, is the club current skipper and heading towards his 250th game for the club.

However not all the graduates of La Masia established themselves at Barcelona and some have moved to other clubs to advance their careers.

These have include de la Pena, Luis Garcia, Jose Manuel Reina, Mikel Arteta, Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas and Albert Luque.

Fabregas, also a native Catalunyan, was persuaded by Arsenal manager's Arsene Wenger for a brighter and better-paid future at Arsenal, and so it has proved since he joined the Gunners as a 16-year-old boy in September 2003.

Piqué also has been snapped up by Sir Alex Ferguson to strengthen his team. He is a defender who not only good for his defensive skills but also gets forward and scores.

The Day the "Dutch Trio" Really Arrived on the World Soccer Stage

The three players in question were Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rikaard. Rikaard and Gullit had something in common as they were both half Dutch and half Surinamese, giving them a striking dark skinned appearance with dark curly locks. Strangely enough before arriving at Milan, the Dutch trio rarely played together, although Rijkaard and Van Basten were on Ajax Amsterdam's books at the same time. Ruud Gullit made his way to Milan from PSV Eindhoven, after having played beforehand for a couple of minor Dutch clubs.

It was Milan chairman Sylvia Berlusconi who saw the potential in the Dutch trio and brought them to Milan for the 1987-88 seasons, raising a few eyebrows in the process. Yet the three players made an instant impact. Rikaard could either play in defense or defensive midfield, Gullit was a gifted and flight of foot attacking midfielder and Van Basten was a classic goal scorer, who could strike equally well with both feet as well as being very strong in the air. Milan won the Milan won their first Italian Championship (Scudetto) for eight years, with Rikaard and Gullit both making valuable contributions, However van Basten only donned the red and black soccer uniform of AC Milan for just eleven games, being constantly troubled by an ankle injury. An injury that would later return and end his career prematurely.

As the 1988/89 season began there was an air of optimism around Milan that this team was about to do great things, and the attractive football and performances in domestic tournaments certainly proved that. However the team were stuttering badly in Europe and despite some really weak performances made it to the semi- final against a very strong Real Madrid It was expected that the free scoring Hugo Sanchez and his team mates would rapidly end Milan's interest in the tournament for that season. It certainly seemed that way in the first leg at the Bernabeu when Sanchez put the Real into the lead in the first half. However Rijkaard and Carlo Ancelotti controlled and marshaled the Milan defence as real mounted wave after wave of attacks. The giant stadium was hushed into silence as Milan scored a fluke equalizer against the run of the play, as a header from Van Basten hit the bar and rebounded off the back of goalkeeper Buoy into the net.

The skeptics said that real would still take the second leg in San Siro. They were forced to eat their words as Milan's domestic form eventually came together on the European stage and the Spanish champions fell to one of their heaviest defeats in Europe. It was Carlo Ancelotti of all people who gave Milan the lead with a powerful drive from 30 yards. Not long after Frank Rijkaard headed home the second, and another headed goal from Gullit sent Milan in at half time leading 3-0. A few minutes into the second half signs of the almost telepathic understanding that had built up between the Dutch trio in the less than two seasons they had played together was stamped in history, as Gullit and Rijkaard combined to lay the ball on plate to Van Basten who clinically rammed the ball into the Real net. The stadium rose as one to celebrate this remarkable group of footballers. Local Donadoni put the icing on the cake of a remarkable victory, and as the news broke that Milan were to meet relative underdogs Steaua Bucharest in the final to be played in Barcelona, the feeling was that the trophy was theirs for the taking.

Estimates are that more than eighty thousand Milan supporters made their way to the Camp Nou to see their beloved team play in the final. Although Steaua were the underdogs, they had won the European cup three years previously and superbly marshaled by the superbly talented Gheorghe Hagi they were still worth taking seriously. However as the game got under way, it soon became obvious that this was a great football team, and a victory earned by playing in style was inevitable. The first goal was not long in coming as a powerful shot from Van Basten cross shot was only parried the Steaua goalkeeper and Gullit was on the spot to prod home the rebound.

Half way through the first half a Milan corner was cleared headed home by Van Basten and with seven minutes to go till half time, Gullit scored his second of the night as he crashed a volley into the roof of the net to make it 3-0 and virtually closing the match as a contest. Within a minute of the second half kicking off, goal number four was already being recorded, this time with Van Basten strolling onto yet another Rijkaard inch perfect pass to steer the ball home. Milan undoubtedly took their foot off the gas to prevent the game Steaua team unnecessary punishment, with the remaining highlight being Ruud Gullit's substitution with half an hour still on the clock, a sign of Milan's total supremacy on the park. As legendary captain Franco Baresi with his red/black soccer uniform lifted the European it marked the most comprehensive win in a European Cup final since 1974, and the day that three soccer legends were born.

ICC World Cup 2011: Probable England Team

After lifting the T20 World Cup England have suddenly become a much different team from the one we have known in the last several years.

There is a new resoluteness in their batting, and they have wicket taking bowlers. Importantly there's a spring in their step in the field. There seems to be a new self-belief that was absent earlier.

And this is reflected in their recent matches. In 2010, England have played 17 matches and won 12, for an impressive winning percentage in excess of 70%.

The five matches lost include two each against Australia and Pakistan, and one against Bangladesh. Importantly, England did not lose a single series, beating both Pakistan and Australia by an identical margin of 3-2.

Twenty-one players players turned out for England in the 17 ODIs they played during 2010: Cook, Kieswetter, Pietersen, Collingwood, Morgan, Prior,Wright, Broad, Bresnan, Swann, Sidebottom, Tredwell, Shahzad, Plunkett, Yardy, Anderson, Bopara, Bell, Davies, Trott and Strauss.

In order to select 14 from this lot, all we need to do is drop seven. Tredwell, Plunkett and Shahzad, new ball bowlers tried out against Pakistan and Bangladesh did not do enough to merit attention.

Omitting these three, we are left with 18. There are three keepers, in Kieswetter, Prior and Davies. Kieswetter is the most reliable batsman of the three, although Prior and Davies did get a few useful scores. I was never an advocate for carrying a second keeper and therefore, I would keep  Kieswetter and drop the other two. Additionally, Kieswetter was an important member of the world cup winning squad, and that would give him an edge in crunch situations.

Trott was a revelation during the Pakistan series in September. Also, Cook has proved more reliable in tests than in ODIs; so I would opt for Trott ahead of Cook. Now the last spot is a toss-up between Bell and Bopara. Bell is better suited to test cricket; also, Bopara has played in India, in the IPL.

First eleven: Strauss, Kieswetter, Pietersen, Collingwood, Morgan, Bopara, Yardy, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Anderson, with  Wright, Sidebottom and Trott providing bench strength.

Pietersen is the only one who has not done exceedingly well in 2010, and some might call for him to be replaced in the first eleven by Trott. But class is permanent, and as he proved at the T20 world cup, Pietersen can win a match off his own bat; his presence gives the team a psychological edge.

In the batting, Kieswetter has not been very consistent, but given Strauss's brilliant form against Pakistan recently, the skipper could prove the perfect foil to Kieswetter's aggression at the top of the order. Collingwood and Morgan give the team great depth. Morgan has scored three centuries and has played well in nearly every one of the 17 matches in 2010.

This team has great balance, and bats deep, right up to Swann at number 10. Apart from the four front line bowlers in Bresnan, Broad, Swann and Anderson, Bopara and Yardy are all-rounders, and Collingwood can also bowl.  England's rivals would underestimate Strauss's squad at their peril.

You Can Use Harry Potter Merchandise to Create a Magical World

Author J. K. Rowling created a wonderful world of magic in her series of books. The movies brought this world to life, thrilling audiences to the sights and sounds of Hogwarts and Diagon Alley. Strange creatures were showcased, along with some rather strange characters. Little wonder, then, that Harry Potter merchandise quickly became popular. Now it is possible to use Harry Potter wall art to create your own magical room.

Representations of Hermione, Ron, and Harry abound, but you will also find the Malfoy family and the evil Bellatrix Lestrange. Most of Harry's professors, such as McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Umbridge are there, too. So are Tonks, Hagrid, and Mad-Eyed Moody. Naturally, no collection would be complete without Ron's siblings as well. Nor have the Dark Arts been forgotten. There are also posters of Death Eaters, Snape, and Voldemort if you like the Dark Arts.

If your taste runs to magical creatures, you will find Dementors, the hippograiff Buckbeak, and assorted dragons. The menagerie Hagrid tended can also be found, such as Fluffy and Fang. Naturally the owls are available and even Dobby the House Elf puts in an appearance.

It is easy to create your own version of Hogwarts as well. Whether you want an image of the castle viewed from a distance, the common room, or the Fat Lady's painting, you will find it. Paintings of flags, patches, and badges for each house are also to be found.

Parchments are plentiful, too. You might want to collect the educational decrees put into force during the tenure of Umbridge. There are images of the scroll listing Dumbledore's Army or of various spells. A picture of the infamous marauder's map is also available.

Quidditch fans can find several options from which to choose. There are posters of Krum and also an ad for the Quidditch World Cup. Harry, Ginny Weasley, and Oliver Wood are shown in uniform or while playing the game.

The series introduced some novel methods of transportation, and you will find posters of your favorites. The flying Ford Anglia, Hogwarts Express, and the Knight Bus are just some options. The Durmstrang ship that could transform from submarine to sailing ship is also available.

Frames can be purchased to display posters and wall art beautifully. Choose from metal or wood frames. Or to hang the educational decrees just like Umbridge, you might want to choose special frames designed to do just that.

A room designer can make it easy to create the perfect Harry Potter themed room and select the items needed. The program asks which kind of room you will be decorating and the color of the walls. You then insert furniture, windows, and door, and the program will offer suggestions that will coordinate with existing elements. If you do not like the results, just reset the program and try again until you find exactly what you want.

Harry Potter merchandise can transform a whole house or just one room. Wall art is a great way to decorate a playroom, game room, or bedroom. It is a very economical way to bring the world of magic home.

We all like harry potter and his movies while he is schooling at Hogwarts, but how do you get your hands on some products at the affordable cost? Well, we have good news for you. You will see that we have it all and even a harry potter merchandise wall art poster.

Football in Asia

Like everywhere else in the world, football is very popular in Asia. Asia has the most populous of the six FIFA confederations; Asians make up a full half of all footballers, all over the world.

In the Asian Football Confederation, there are currently 46 member countries, a testimony to the popularity of the sport in the region. The organization was formed in the Philippines in May of 1954, and was recognized by FIFA as such the next month. Its first major competition was the Asian Cup, held in Hong Kong two years after the confederation's formation. Its headquarters are in Malaysia, and it hosts ten national tournaments, three of them being for women's teams only and one being for youth teams only. There are also three club tournaments: the AFC Champions League, the AFC Cup, and the AFC President's Cup.

As Asia has some extremely small countries in it, there are basically two teams for every country: a men's team and a women's team. Unlike other countries, such as the United States or the United Kingdom, when referring to team names, one only has to refer to the country.

Despite the fact that it is the Asian Football Confederation, participation is not limited to only those of Asian descent. For example, a Serbian coach of the Chinese national team, Vladimir Petrovic, is obviously not Chinese, nor even Asian, but Eastern European. Though not typical in the AFC, this is also not rare, and definitely not unheard of.

As anyone can see, Asia is a key component of this world's obvious fascination with football. Hosting fully half of the entire world's players, Asia's continued participation in world football is vital to the improvement of the game. Football clearly brings the world together, despite our many differences. Keep this in mind the next time you watch a game!!!

FIFA Soccer 08 was released last year, but that doesn't make its rating any less: an 8.5 on a 10 point scale. It runs at about $50-$60 at the major retailers.

And football fans, watch for FIFA Soccer 09, coming out in October of this year!

Rugby - Gaining Significant Momentum in the United States

Where does rugby fit in the grand scheme of American Sports? Up until recent history the United States has paid little interest to sports outside its borders. Avid American sport goers have really taking stride in bringing soccer into the mainstream; however that's caught on with little degree of popularity - although optimism was spiked during the past World Cup in 2006. Another sport, cricket, which is tremendous in India, South Africa and Pakistan is also feeling the heat of irrelevance - when Americans were asked about the very fundamentals of cricket over 90% could not decipher what instruments, apparel or gear are used to play the game, (survey conducted by Zpryme Research & Consulting, LLC).

Another sport, cycling is still very much a recreational sport in the United States with a very small spectator following- especially since the retirement of Lance Armstrong. However, a sport traditionally foreign to the United States has been catching on in the United States, much to the surprise of many athletic apparel companies like Adidas and Nike is Rugby. "According to USA Rugby, the sport has grown 15 percent annually the past four years, with the biggest and most rapid increase in the youth sector."Rugby has also exploded in the Northeast and out in the west with many adolescents and high schools - a wonderful primer before entering the club sport at the university level. "The number of high school teams registered with USA Rugby has increased from 150 to more than 500 in the last six years, and there were 679 men's and women's college teams registered last year."

However Rugby is still far from the revenue juggernaut, Mr. Gridiron, American Football. Still, Rugby is experiencing a strong exposure on most college campuses in the United States and already possesses a loyal legion with both current and past rugby aficionados. These core fans already do their best by employing viral marketing though mediums such as blogs, MySpace.com and university campuses - they loyal fans could easily increase the domino effect of rugby exposure if they saw their sport begin to surface in the mainstream athletic arena.

At a professional level, the United States is approaching decency in the game: they've qualified for the past three Rugby World Cups, and while they have yet to advance past initial play, have delivered hope in their attempts. The 2007 International Rugby Press Association Try of the Year was scored by an American, Takudzwa Ngwenya, who capitalized off an end-to-end transition play against the Springboks of South Africa by outrunning the 2007 international Player of the Year, Bryan Habana down the far wing.

The Future of Rugby?

If rugby continues to grow at its current rate, there will be approximately 1,500 high school teams within the next five years or so. This increase in high school activity will lead to a higher interest in collegiate rugby, and this seasonal cycle will lead to mounting interest with the potential to fund a professional rugby league similar to that of the AFL (arena football league).

Further inspiring the growth of rugby is the news that "USA Rugby and Canterbury of New Zealand (CCC) announced today that CCC has become the official kit provider and exclusive apparel licensee to USA Rugby through May 2012. Under the agreement, CCC will supply USA Rugby with apparel for all Eagles teams, and also commits to the payment of performance bonuses through Rugby World Cup 2011. In addition, CCC will be launching a USA Rugby licensed leisurewear range that will be available to retail stores across America. CCC will also provide a three year academic/rugby scholarship to Loughborough University, one of England's premier Universities."

"By establishing a relationship with USA Rugby, CCC is pleased to lend its support and 104 years of rugby tradition and experience to the Eagles." The future certainly looks bright for rugby in the United States. For those that are already fans - they should collectively make it a priority to spread their love for the game to the youth, so that one day it will not be uncommon to see it broadcasted daily on mediums such as ESPN Sports Center or in print in the sports editorial of their local newspaper.

Will Sachin Tendulkar Play In ICC World Cup 2015?

The title of the article could cause you to doubt my sanity, but I am talking about an event that's just four years away. And it's never too soon to plan.

Which players of the current Indian team do you expect NOT to see in the 2015 event? I definitely don't expect to see Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan. Because the shelf life of a new ball operator is naturally limited, especially when said bowlers have serious fitness concerns. Harbhajan could still be there, depending on his form, and there's no reason to believe that he will lose his guile so soon, as he will only be 32 at the time.

Players like Sreesanth and Munaf Patel are still relatively young, and should be there depending on their fitness, though how much slower Munaf will get (he is down to 122 kph) is debatable. (I expect Ishant Sharma to mature as a bowler and make a permanent pace for himself, while others like RP Singh and Praveen Kumar could be in and out of the ODI team. )Ashwin should have cemented his place in the Indian 15, assuming that he grabs the opportunities that are bound to come his way.

Coming to the batting, players like Gambhir, Kohli and Raina should definitely be there. If I see a possible casualty among the rest, it's Yuvraj, not because he needs to prove his talent or anything but owing to his fragile temperament. Sehwag is another question mark, mainly because I am not certain how long he wants to continue, but I will stick my neck out and say that he is likely to quit test cricket first, and will probably be there at the 2015 event.

I expect Dhoni to remain, though whether he is still captain could depend on how much success India achieve before then. Given the state of the competition, I expect India to do very well.

Now, it's back to the main question: will Sachin be there? If you are looking for a 'yes' or 'no' answer, then my guess is Tendulkar will still be around as a player, though I expect him to have reduced his ODI appearances, drastically, in order to concentrate on test cricket. Knowing how cricket is run in India, I expect BCCI to request Tendulkar to play in the 2015 event, and others like Gavaskar prevailing on the batsman to accept. The whole business of 'selecting' Tendulkar for the 2015 world cup will provide sufficient fodder to keep news channels busy 24x7.

And will Tendulkar accept the invitation? I suspect we will find out the answer by April 2...

Are the All Blacks Chokers?

The rugby world, lead mostly by Australians and Englishmen, take great joy in labelling New Zealand's All Blacks chokers for their recent lack of World Cup success. Since the first World Cup, which New Zealand won, the All Black World Cup story has been one of disappointment and heartache for All Black Supporters who are left wondering how a team that is seems to spend the entire three years leading up to a world cup stomping on everyone in site can manage to throw away world cups year after year.

It started in England, where the All Blacks were defeated in the semi-final by Australia. I can remember that year well, Australia beat the All Blacks convincingly at home, then New Zealand managed to retain the Bledislow cup by winning a low scoring game at home. 1-1 all going into the world cup, with Australia looking far more convincing in their win. In the minds of many New Zealanders the All Blacks were the underdogs in that semi-final. Chokers - not here. Much as it pains me to say, beaten by the better team, not just on the day, but of the season.

In South Africa in 1995 the All Blacks played well to dismiss everyone between them on the final. Getting up in the middle of the night New Zealanders were greeted with the news many of their food was suffering from food poisoning prior to their final against the hosts. Still, the game went to extra time, and the All Blacks lost the drop kicking duel. Choking...only on their dinner.

In 1999 the All Blacks went into a semi-final against a French Team described as 'only there by a fluke of the draw'. On this occasion I was driving the length of the country to see my girlfriend, listening to the radio as the static crackled in and out. New Zealand controlled much of the match, but were blown away in the second half by a period of play that France will produce once a decade. When they are in that mood they are near unstoppable. France went on to show their other side in the final, losing terribly to Australia in an ugly match. The All Blacks were so dejected that they had little heart for their 3rd place playoff with South Africa and finished their worst placing ever at a world cup - 4th. Choking? Maybe so here, certainly they had little answer once the French turned on the magic.

In 2003 the All Blacks had beaten Australia comfortably in the Tri-Nations(In one game very handsomely) and having disposed of South Africa in their Semi-Final were the favourites going into the Semi-Final, against the hosts. Australia played a game plan the All Blacks never saw coming, and again the inability to adapt cost the All Blacks the game. Having said that, one intercept try made all the difference, and Australia were always going to be very difficult to beat on their home turf. Australia went on to lose to England in the final. This time there was no heartless playoff for the kiwi's who took their frustration out on France.

Overall, the history of New Zealand at world cups has been disappointing for fans, but only one country, Australia, can boast a better record. The 'choker' tag is more something used to rile up New Zealand fans than something any team actually believes. Going in to the 2007 World Cup the All Blacks have beaten all the major nations comfortably, several times by 30 points or more. Remarkably they have done this with a squad system that means they often play their second 15 in any given match. No other country in the Rugby World has demonstrated the depth to contemplate this, yet in 2006 the All Blacks dropped only one match - the 'dead rubber' in Ristenburg to a South African team fuelled by desperation.

Competitors should consider the New Zealand team chokers at their own peril. They are runaway favourites to win the 2007 World Cup, but not invincible as Rustenburg showed.

Is the Cup Half Full or Half Empty?

How do you typically embrace the world? Are you constantly waiting for the storm to arrive, or do you look forward to a day of uncertainty? Do you typically see the good and positives in most situations, or are you constantly looking over your shoulder? Our outlook on life can paint a canvas full of color and life or create a pallete dreary and bland. Your attitude makes a dramatic difference on your response and experience to situations. We are all dealt periods in our life that can alter our foundation, our safety. We have the power to choose how to respond to these circumstances. Sometimes it is easier to have a "pity party" for ourselves, which is completely ok and therapeutic. But then it is important to brush ourselves off, raise our heads and move on. Wouldn't it feel better to walk into an unknown situation prepared, thinking positively, than preparing for the worst with your head down? Talking yourself into something feels better, raises your confidence and typically creates an atmosphere that supports your end result. Even if the end result is unknown to you at the time, you have the power to think positively and expect the best. Your attitude and energy makes its mark on the world around you, create a surrounding that feels good and supports your best interests.

ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:

1. Track your thoughts

Just as you would "log" your financial spending to see where your money goes, track how many negative thoughts pop into your mind every day. Many of us are unaware how often negative thoughts cloud our choices and decisions. Make a commitment this week to "track" the negative voice for one or two days. Keep a journal or notepad with you and track how many times the negative voice pops into your head.

2. Change your language

Now that you have tracked your negative thoughts, you need to replace them with positive words. What are you most critical of in your life? Do you put yourself down regarding your appearance? Do you criticize your work? Replace these thoughts with sentences that support you.

3. Start your day off on a positive note

The way you begin your day, your outlook, affects the rest of your day and interractions. No matter what the day has in store for you, take control by uplifting yourself and your spirits right from the beginning. Say a positive affirmation, focus on your strengths, shine the light on yourself; do whatever it takes to begin your day on a positive note.

Have a great week!

Around the World in 100 Words - Five Language Apps for the Business Traveler

If you're a business traveler and a frequent flyer to international destinations, you understand that English can take you many places, but it can't always get the job done. Learning a few phrases in the languages of your foreign business associates can make your experience in their country more pleasant and score you extra credit points.

Too busy to read a foreign-language phrase book or attend a language class before your next trip? Language-learning apps are your solution. Compact and mobile par excellence, these highly engaging applications can accompany you in your travels and help you bolster your language skills at your leisure.

Let's take a look at five free mobile apps that you can combine to acquire foreign language skills on the road and on the fly:

1. Byki

Quick, essential phrases in Danish, Dutch, French, German, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Taglog are at your fingertips with this app. Rather than delving into extensive vocabulary, Byki is strong in teaching everyday greetings across several languages, with the multiple-destination traveler in mind. In three easy steps, you can master everyday cordialities that will take you across Europe and Asia.

The first step involves reviewing the flash cards, which come with images and native speaker audio. In the second step, you see the target language and come up with the English translation. When you've got the gist of the vocabulary, the third step is to translate from English into the foreign language.

Byki has also compiled a database of vocabulary around key themes such as beverages. Want to know how to order a beer in every country you visit? This is the app for you.

2. Busuu

Where Byki offers breadth, Busuu provides depth. Available in Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, French and German, Busuu has a similar interface to Rosetta Stone in terms of exercises and format. Native speaker sound, illustrations, colorful flashcards, dialogues and audiovisual quizzes make for an engaging and active learning experience. Students are rewarded with Busuu berries at the end of each level.

Another great feature is that Busuu allows you to review your mistakes. You can acquire vocabulary pertaining to a variety of themes, including work, sports, days of the week, body parts, telling time, dates and seasons, family members, numbers, colors, meals, directions, pets, geography, clothes, fruits, vegetables and more.

3. Vocabology

This vocabulary-boosting app is designed for the daily language apprentice. It allows you to get a word-of-the-day in Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, French and English from a variety of sources. Because repetition is often the secret to retention, Vocabology uses the word of the day in multiple contexts, including an addictive quiz.

4. Flashcards Deluxe

One of the best ways to commit all of this vocabulary to memory is to review it throughout the day. This app allows you to create your own deck of flashcards with words you come across in your studies and to import decks from the shared library. You can personalize the backgrounds of the cards, add photos and sounds from your smartphone or from the app's website, modify font size and colors, set up a slideshow and flag cards for more intensive review.

As you go through your cards, you signal your responses as either correct, incorrect or "strong correct" (meaning no need for further review). The program then schedules the cards in spaced repetition as a function of these responses so that you don't under-study certain words and over-study the ones you have mastered. Using the Leitner card order option, you can also focus solely on the cards you've gotten wrong recently. Spend ten minutes with this app every morning when you wake up and/or at night when you go to bed for optimum retention.

5. Radio/Newspaper apps

As your familiarity with the language increases, you can begin to immerse yourself in the culture of your travel destination by listening to the national radio stations and reading local press articles. If you are traveling to Spain, for example, download the RNE app, Radio Nacional de España to listen to any of the six national radio stations, andEl Paisto enrich your vocabulary while reading up on trending topics, current affairs and popular culture. Unlike mobile sites, these radio-streaming and content apps are perfectly adapted to your particular smartphone platform and therefore supply an optimized interface. You don't have to sort through several web pages to get where you want - in one click, you can stream the radio station of your choice, as effortlessly as if you were flipping channels on the highway in Spain. And in one click, you can read news articles in a format carefully tailored to your smartphone screen.

The rapidity of speech may be intimidating at first but if you undertake this exercise regularly, you'll soon be amazed to find yourself deciphering fragments of conversations and recognizing the vocabulary words you have acquired.

There are hundreds of other interesting language apps out there but with these five alone, you can build a comprehensive and personalized program for foreign language acquisition. So how much time do you need to devote to this in order to see any tangible results?

Remember that we are not talking about fluency here (though multilingualism is a fantastic goal), but rather elementary communication in the context of international business. One school of thought makes the argument that you can get by in a foreign country with a lexicon of 100 words. With 100 words at your disposal, you are able to comprehend some of what is said around you, express your essential needs and ask basic questions. A pocketbook vocabulary of 100 words will allow you to order wine for your table at a company lunch, ask when your clothes will be dry-cleaned, inquire as to the best cup of coffee near your hotel and get directions to a local pharmacy.

And if you're armed with 100 words, you're less likely to be taken advantage of by that taxi driver who mistakes you for a novice and opts for the extra-long route to the hotel. Your ability to communicate in the local language, albeit on a rudimentary level, will place you in a different category of tourists or business travelers, one that is treated with more respect. You will also derive more satisfaction from mundane tasks like checking out of your hotel, since everyday interactions such as these become opportunities to practice your newfound vocabulary in context.

So next time you're on the road-lugging around your suitcase, smoothing the wrinkles out of your suit, and struggling to get some shuteye - explore these apps for hours of distraction (even relaxation!) and acquire new language skills in the process. We're sure that doing so will broaden your horizons and deepen your appreciation of the cultures with which you do business.

Teachers' Strike

Now, teachers have abandoned whatever moral high ground they might have held thanks to the deliberately calculated threat to Matric exams by some trade union leaders; while education departments seem to be completely out of touch with, or naive about, conditions on the ground with their advice to pupils.

Allen Thompson, deputy president of the National Teachers Union (Natu), was last week reported as saying "there will no Matric exams written this year in South Africa. We have decided to use the Matric exams as a lever if the government does not come forward with a better offer."

Some schools included propagandistic letters from trade unions in notices sent to parents and guardians on Friday, informing them about the strike and leaving it up to them to decide if they want to send their children to school today. Others schools encouraged pupils to stay at home.

Judged against the background of Thompson's threat, it strikes as cynical that some of the trade unions in their contribution to these notices claim that they refrained from using the 2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup as a lever in their negotiations with the government. These claims are also made apparently without any sense of irony that teachers, unlike other workers, could follow the World Cup at their leisure, courtesy of an extended winter school holiday.

Pupils and their parents and guardians were yesterday instructed by the national and provincial Education departments that they should attend school today, even if there was no supervision available. They were expected to keep themselves occupied with all sorts of self-teaching activities, including completing newspaper crossword puzzles.

Safety concerns

In light of regular reports about discipline problems at many schools, the approach by the Education departments has left many parents uneasy and even concerned for the safety and well-being of their children.

There was further cause for concern that things may turn ugly at some schools with the National Professional Teacher's Organisation of South Africa's (Naptosa's) president Ezrah Ramasehla urging his members to consider various options, including sit-ins and pickets at school. Such action ran the risk of confrontation between parents - many of whom are unemployed or find it difficult to make ends meet themselves - and teachers.

In an apparent acknowledgment of the dangers involved, it was reported that among others the police would be on standby.

The strike comes at a most inopportune time - at the end of a long weekend, barely three weeks after the extended World Cup holiday, when schools are not fully back in rhythm and little more than two months before Matrics have to begin their all-important final exam.

Synchronizing negotiations and budget

The present unsavoury situation of the teachers' strike, being but a part of wider public service labour action, graphically illustrates the problems presented by the fact that the negotiation process and the government's budgeting processes are completely out of kilter with one another. At least on that front there may be a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Announcing the government's "final" salary offer on Thursday last week, Public Service and Administration Minister Richard Baloyi said it would provide "a bridge" to a more far-reaching negotiation process that would be synchronized with the State's Budget cycle.

The latest would cost more than the R23 billion that had been budgeted for salary increases for the period, but Baloyi refused to be drawn on the new cost, saying only that the government would need to reprioritise other expenditure.

He said there was a need to bring the present negotiations to an urgent close, as it would be necessary to open the next round before November if there were to be any chance of aligning the bargaining processes with the finalisation of the Budget for 2011/12.

Baloyi committed to a range of historical challenges being addressed during this next round, including:

* A review of government remuneration policy;
* The synchronization of salary negotiations with the Budget cycle;
* A return to April as the implementation month for salary adjustments;
* The building of sustainable negotiation capacity;
* The introduction of a multi-term focus in salary negotiations; and
* Further dialogue on housing support for public servants.

"We are willing to address the outstanding issues, including housing, in the second phase," he said during a briefing at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

World Cup 2006-Track Your Favorite Team Day or Night

Technology is so advanced that unlike a few decades ago one does not have to wait for "the news" to get an update on any sporting event. Apart from live coverage on television there are web sites devoted exclusively to the event.

The official website http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/sc/index.html is comprehensive and has news, views, as well as a live scoreboard that displays when a match will be held, the pre-game line ups, and information about the previous as well as next day.

The organizers have ensured that where you go football will follow. They have made arrangements for soccer fans to receive live updates on mobile phones too. All you have to do is access the site from your phone's browser.

Sites like ESPN's soccernet , CNN.com, and the BBC sports website among many other news sites have the World Cup as their prime feature. Here there are great articles on each team, performance projections, as well as gossip galore. Who is undergoing treatment, which player has injuries, how did x, y, or z perform last season, and much more is there for you to read and understand.

Rugby World Cup '11 - Simple Guide

One of the things I love the most is Rugby. The Rugby World Cup is coming up in less than a month away and I'm a little excited to say the least.

This year the Rugby World Cup is being held in New Zealand, which could make it a little bit of a white wash for the home team as they have been unstoppable this year and maintained themselves as the best team in the world for the last couple of years.

My team is England and coming of a win in 2003 and runners up in 2007, we've got a good chance of getting to the final again this year. Either way I'll be watching all of the matches of Sky+ as they are being played during the night.

A lot of people don't like Rugby, they think it is too complicated. I disagree, there are a few fundamental things that anyone can learn about the game to make it more enjoyable. There are a few of these things that I have picked up over the years, and here they are.

Offside
Offside is not the same as offside in football. Offside in rugby is all about being behind or parallel with the ball.

Example:

Team A are attacking and team B are defending.

If there has been some intense play in the middle of the field and players from either side as strewn all over that area of the pitch the ball suddenly gets picked up by team A and kicked all the way up field to a player who is by himself by his own posts. This player catches the ball. At this point he is stoof by himself with his back to his own posts and the majority of players in front of him. If he decides to kick the ball up field he is the only player that can then touch the ball from his team, before the opposition touches it. Why? Because all of the players are in front of him and the ball, becoming off side.

Off side is simply be in front of the ball when the ball is played. It is important for players who are part of the game and on the offensive to continue attacking from behind the ball.

If you imagine the ball creating a long line to each side of the pitch (width) wherever the ball may be, this would be the offside line. If the ball moves so does the offside line.

Scoring
Points be scored in three ways on the Rugby field. They are as follows:

Penalty Kick

A penalty kick is worth three points as is simply a kick that successfully sends the bal through the posts at any point during the game. A kick is awarded when a foul occurs. The Penalty kick is worth three points and is not the same as a conversion.

Tip - Keeping possession.

Some of the time tactics come into play. When one of teams has conceded a penalty the other team gets the opportunity to kick the bal through the posts gaining them three valuable points. There is an alternative, which can gain the attacking team more points but is more of a gamble.

Instead if kicking the ball through the posts, the team can opt to kick the ball into 'touch' or across the outside line of the pitch putting the ball out of play.

The great thing about this for the attacking team is that the other team conceded a foul, giving them the penalty, which means when the ball is thrown back in, it is thrown in again by the attacking team because they gained no advantage by kicking the ball out. If the attacking team gets the chance to throw the ball in to their team mates and if they are lucky enough to be near the opposition's line, there is a good chance they will score a try, which is worth five points rather than a conversion which is worth three. They then get the chance to kick for a conversion which could be worth an additional two points, making a total of seven. Sounds better than a crummy three points right??

Try

A try is when the attacking team get the ball over the line which run next to the posts. This is the hardest thing to get in Rugby and is worth five points. A penalty try can be awarded, which is worth the same amount of points.

Conversion

A conversion is similar to a penalty but is a kick which is taken after a try is scored as is worth two points for the attacking team rather than three which is awarded for a penalty kick.

Tip - Getting under the posts.

It is really important for the attacking team to try and score the try as close to the posts as possible. After the try is scored there comes the penalty kick, in short, the further left or right from the posts the try is scored (into each corner) the further away the conversion kick is kicked from. So if the try is scored right in the corner of the pitch near the flag the poor kicker has a far more acute angle to kick the ball through and it's further away so it can be a lot harder.

Drop Goal

A drop goal is awarded three points and is a kick that successfully goes through the posts from open play. The ball must touch the ground first and be made at any point.

Kit number
Similarly to football each team member has an assigned number. Here are the top three most important kit numbers I think you need to know.

No.9 - Scrum Half

Have you ever noticed that it's the same guy who always picks up the ball and throws it after a tackle? This player is called the scrum half. Every time there is a big tackle, or a player on his own team goes to ground, that player on the floor has to release it to the scrum half who offloads the ball and passes it to another member of his team. He can also challenge for the ball after a ball comes out of a scrum called the pocket.

Tip - The 'pocket'

Have you ever seen the ball resting at the feet of a couple of players when they are locked in a scrum? This area of the ground is called the 'pocket'. It's a small area which is neither inside the scrum, nor out of it. It's like a protected area that the defending team can not reach and will be penalised if they do so. As the scrum moves forward (or backwards), if the ball is kept in this area then the ball is protected until it goes outside of the pocket and into open play again. It's more of a judgement call whether the ball is inside the pocket or not, and decisions can go either way.

N0.10 - Fly Half

Jonny Wilkinson. The best fly half the world has ever seen. Biased? No. Just look at the points table and the number of rugby world cups he has competed in before.

The job of the fly half is primarily the kicker. Each time a penalty is conceded by the opposition, this player will kick the ball through the posts. He can also perform a drop goal, which is a kick in open play with the ball bouncing on the floor first before going through the posts.

This player is an integral part to the team and more often than not the one who gets the most points for the team due to the amount of kicks they produce winning points for the team.

The End!

This concludes my little whirl wind tour of rugby and a few pointers and things to look out for, which will hopefully make the game more enjoyable for your to watch. I'll be cheering on England in the Rugby World Cup '11, I hope you gather a bit of national pride and support your team as well. We're less than a month away to the Rugby World cup '11 so keep your ear to the ground and most of all enjoy!

Top 10 Youngsters of World Football

The topic that everyone seems to want to question. Who are the best young players, player comparisons and most importantly is whether they will live up to their potential. There have been numerous youngsters in the past five years alone. Pablo Aimar and Javier Saviola were supposed to be the new Diego Maradona, Antonio Cassano the new Roberto Baggio. The list could go on for failed potential. Here I am going to list the top 10 players in the world.

10) Mario Balotelli

Current Club: Inter Milan

Nationality: Ghana, Italy

Age: 17

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: George Weah

A player with big potential. A big, strong and pacy forward who is a specialist set piece taker. At just 17 he has been called up to an senior international call up by his home country Ghana, though this has been declined due to his preference to play for Italy once he reaches his 18th birthday. Baloteli is one to look out for the future.

9) Giovani Dos Santos

Current Club: Tottenham

Nationality: Mexico

Age: 19

Posistion: Attacking Midfielder (Left, Right)

Player Comparisons: Ronaldinho

Giovani Dos Santos comes to Tottenham with a huge reputation. At Barcelona he had the likes of Messi, Ronaldinho, Henry, Bojan and Iniesta competing with him for a first team spot. A skilful winger who can be just as strong playing on the right as he can on the left. The £4.7 million Tottenham paid Barcelona could prove to be a massive bargain as he plays his trade in the Premiership next season.

8) Karim Benzema

Current Club: Lyon

Nationality: France, Algeria

Age: 20

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: Nickolas Anelka

The young French forward has just had a fantastic season in France finishing top scorers with 24 goals ensuring Lyon were to win the League for the 7th year in a row. His quality has interested the likes of Man Utd and Real Madrid though he has underlined his determination to stay with the French champions for the time being. His reputation around Europe has increased around Europe to the point that some fans were already predicting he would become the top scorer at Euro 2008, although this was not to happen.

7) Theo Walcott

Current Club: Arsenal

Nationality: England

Age: 19

Position: Right Midfielder, Striker

Player Comparisons: Ryan Giggs

It seems like the young England forward has been around for forever. It was when he was just 16 playing for Southampton that he convinced Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign him beating off some tough competition. He was then brought into the England squad for the 2006 World Cup without playing a single game for Arsenal, though he did not feature in the tournament. Since then he has slowly progressed and will this year be hoping to push himself into the Arsenal starting line up.

6) Carlos Vela

Current Club: Arsenal

Nationality: Mexico

Age: 19

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: David Villa

Bought by Arsenal after receiving the player of the tournament in the u17s World Cup for Mexico. He has since spent his time on loan in Spain awaiting a work permit. A player who is very similar to Valencia start David Villa due to his pace and finishing ability. Like Tottenham signing Dos Santos he will be looking to make an impact in his opening season in English football.

5) Lulinha

Current Club: Cortinthians

Nationality: Brazil

Age: 18

Position: Attacking Mid

Player Comparisons: Kaka

The only player in the list playing outside of Europe will show how highly rated this player is. A hugely talented player who could be set to become one of the next Brazilian greats. Clubs like Chelsea are known to have made an enquiry though the Brazilian club will not let him go unless an offer of £24 Million comes in.

4) Alexandre Pato

Current Club: Ac Milan

Nationality: Brazil

Age: 18

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: Samuel Eto'o

When people discuss the most deadly forward lines which they do with AC Milan, then for a 18 year old considered to be in that forward line is some fete. It was not until January where he could make his first team appearance for AC Milan. It was when people started realising why he was so talked about prior to his debut. Despite being injured and missing a few weeks off injury, Pato still managed to score 9 goals for the club. The club displayed so much confidence in him that they started him in the Champions league game against Arsenal ahead of the likes of Flippo Inzahgi. He is currently at the Beijing Olympics where he has already spoke off his desire to finish as top scorer.

3) Anderson

Current Club: Man Utd

Nationality: Brazil

Age: 20

Position: Central Midfield

Player Comparisons: Diego Simeone, Paul Scholes

Bought for a fee believed to be around £18 million. Utd have very high hopes for Anderson and will be one of the only youngsters in the world deemed worthy enough to fill in Paul Schole's boots. A very all rounded midfielder who passed better then any player on this list. He can also tackle and dribble which is rare nowadays for a player of his talent. One issue with Anderson is that he has been quite prone to injuries so he will need to do his best to ensure this doesn't damage his career.

2) Bojan

Current Club: Barcelona

Nationality: Spain

Age: 17

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: Raul

800 youth goals for Barcelona should be enough to talk about for Bojan. Already given the number 11 shirt for Barcelona which might suggest he will be in the starting eleven for next season. He scored 12 goals in his 1st senior season for Barcelona. He seems like he wants to stay at the club for his whole career so he could break every goalscoring record the club has much like Bojan did at youth levels.

1) Sergio Aguero

Current Club: Athletico Madrid

Nationality: Argentina

Age: 20

Position: Striker

Player Comparisons: Romario

Seen along with Lionel Messi, the future of Argentinian football. Moving to Athletico Madrid was seen as a massive coup for the club due to the European teams being interested as well. He came to the club with a big reputation and it took him a year to settle in at Madrid where he could show glimpses of his true talent. It was in his second year where he unleashed his full talent terrorising defences everywhere in Spain becoming the La Liga player of the year. Joining Lionel Messi to become the youngest winner of the award in history. Bigger things are expected of him next season as the club are in the Champions League where he can have the perfect stage to demonstrate his talent to the world.

The question however remains as to how many of these players will live up to there potential. It is impossible to answer.
