For the New Widow: Ten Tips To Help Her Survive...After the Funeral

You're home now. A short while ago you stood over a hole in the earth. You blew a kiss, tossed a rose, sprinkled a shovelful of dirt over a casket, and said goodbye to your husband, your soul mate, the best friend you ever had.

As you move about greeting hungry strangers, someone whispers that the woman wandering about with mayonnaise on her chin is your mother's sister's next door neighbor's cousin's dog's pet sitter. It is a scene right out of Star Wars, the one in the bar, and you feel trapped in it. In a little while everyone is gone, even the dirty-faced dog walker. The door shuts and reality sets in. He isn't coming home. Ever. And in those early days after the funeral, performing the simplest of tasks will seem monumental. You will wonder can I make it - Without Him?

You can. And you will.

Here are ten tips to help you survive...after the funeral:

1. Do say yes to a friend, close relative, or good neighbor, who offers to spend the night (or more), while you slip into something uncomfortable - Widowhood.

Don't be alone that first night, not unless you don't have a choice. First nights without Him sting like a bee and an angel to sit quietly at your kitchen table, to turn out the lights, to shut off the cell phone, and to prepare a cup of tea while you tuck the children in bed, walk the dog, feed the cat, is like aloe on sunburn.

2. Do carry a small notebook. And pen.

Take them with you everywhere you go, even to the bathroom. New widows run out of toothpaste, toilet paper, tissues, ear swabs, and lipstick. And they forget. If your pen and notebook is handy, you won't forget to write the item down. You won't forget to buy it. You will teach yourself structure and focus, something every new widow needs. And running an errand will get you out of the house.

3. Do learn your financial status.

As soon as practical, make an appointment with your accountant, your attorney, and your broker. Bundle your papers, bank statements, insurance policies, will, and outstanding bills. Review them before your appointment. Got questions? Write them down - In that little notebook, remember? The one in your purse.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. You are a new widow, and there is no such thing as a "silly" question. As a matter of fact bury that "silly" word. You're in charge now. Information is crucial to your survival. And for pity sakes, if you don't know how to balance a checkbook, ask.

4. Do pay the mortgage. And the electric.

Other bills may be postponed, temporarily, but not these two. You can lie down and wish your world to go away after you've written these two checks and recorded the data in your check register, or that little notebook, the one in your purse. Don't forget to stick a stamp on the envelopes. Don't forget to mail them. Again, it'll give you a reason to leave the house.

5. Do take care of yourself - Comb your hair, wash your face, brush your teeth, apply lipstick - Do it everyday. Even if you don't leave the house.

Don't get a haircut. This is not the time. Not unless you've got a standing appointment and feel comfortable sitting in a chair for any amount of time. On the long list of things that'll make a new widow feel worse, a bad hair day for the next six months rockets to the top. I suggest delaying a hair cut for at least three months. If you find your hair really scraggly, make a ponytail and tie a ribbon in it. What? No ribbon? What's that pink thing on that basket of fruit?

6. Do take care of your children.

If you have small children, don't neglect them. They need you. Feed them, even if it's cold cereal. Wash their clothes and their faces. Remind them gently to brush their teeth. Don't be afraid to hold them and hug them. Do tell them, everything will be alright.

7. Do walk the dog.
Do change the cat's litter.
Do make certain that all house pets are fed and that they have access to fresh water. It's not unkind to fill a sink with tap water or to leave the toilet seat up. Just remember to flush.

Don't get mad when Barky has an accident, when Kitty claws the carpet, or if they chase each other's tails. Pets mourn, too. Watch for behavior that may require a trip to the vet.

8. Do take out the trash.

Don't wait until the kitchen stinks of spoiled chopped meat and sour milk. No excuse if you live alone. Put on a robe and take out the trash. A family of creepy crawly things is the last thing you want for company.

9. Do eat. Not hungry? Drink water. Keep yourself hydrated.

Don't drink alcohol. Not even one beer. Even if you have always had one glass of wine with dinner, don't do it. At least temporarily. And if you never drank before, don't start now.

10. Do cry.

Tears are cleansing and will help wash away your pain. The only way to process grief is to go through it, not around it, not under it, and not over it. That means crying. So don't be afraid to let it out. Don't be afraid to ask for help, to call a doctor, a psychologist, a grief counselor. Don't be afraid to join a bereavement group. A new widow needs to get out of the house. She needs structure. She needs support. And more important, she needs to know she is not alone.

Life won't be the same without Him. That's for sure. But after the funeral, following these tips will aid you, the new widow, as you develop coping mechanisms, focus, and strategies to help you help yourself as you make your way through the early stages of grief.

Resigning From Your Job - The 21 Necessary Precautions

ACTUAL CASE HISTORY: Claudia was always near the top of her class, in high school, in college, and in business school. And so it was in her hotel industry career: within eight years of her joining the world's second largest hotel company as a management trainee she rose to its corporate headquarters, as its Senior Vice President of Sourcing. As always before, she was once again "near the top."

From Claudia's perspective, promotions were never a problem. Time and again her hard work and solid reputation for near-total devotion preceded her. She didn't seek promotions; they seemed to seek her. When she was contacted by an executive recruiter about a position as Chief Operating Officer of a direct competitor, Claudia took it in stride. It seemed like one more validation of what her parents had always taught her: hard work will reward itself. After consulting with her husband, she decided to aggressively seek the position.

Claudia's eight interviews over four days went extremely well. She got along especially well with the company's new CEO, for whom she'd be working. She was presented an offer that nearly doubled her present compensation, and the opportunity - for the first time in her life - for considerable financial security. She soon accepted. Human Resources was then assigned the task of preparing her employment contract, and Claudia hired legal counsel to review its terms.

Claudia had never been in this situation before: she'd never left a company since business school. She decided to handle all aspects of the resignation process herself, relying on her considerable common sense and people skills. She composed a wonderful resignation letter, and distributed it to her direct boss and her closest colleagues. In her resignation letter, she explained to her colleagues how much they meant to her, but given her new title and assignment, how strongly this new opportunity beckoned. She offered to do whatever was necessary to make the transition a smooth one. Unfortunately, it was anything but smooth.

The first "dark clouds" appeared the very next morning, when Claudia arrived, with Starbucks cup in hand, and turned on her computer. It was frozen; apparently her password had been changed. Her first call, to the Information Technology Dept., was referred to Human Resources. She was asked to come to HR for a brief meeting. When Claudia arrived, she saw four people in the conference room: the HR Director, her boss, his boss, and the company's General Counsel. The conversation was brief, led by the company's HR Director.

Claudia was advised that her departure was not viewed in a positive manner, especially her going to a direct competitor. There was concern that Claudia would use her knowledge of the company's sourcing strategies and methods - especially its new plans to build their own factories in Asia - for her new employer's benefit, maybe even suggest they do the same. That exact scenario was suggested by some of what Claudia mentioned in her resignation letter. She was also asked if the days she'd taken days off as sick days during the past few weeks which were, in fact, used for interviewing; in fact, they had.

The clouds only grew "darker" when Claudia spoke to her attorneys. Their review of the proposed contract offered by her new employer indicated several significant problems, some extremely problematic. The position wasn't all she'd been led to believe. The requirement that she spend almost half of her time in Asia was a complete surprise. The one-year term of employment and two-year non-compete requirement were both unacceptable. Finally, there was a requirement that, if she ever left, if Claudia didn't give at least 90 days notice, she would have to pay back her last year's bonus, commonly called a "clawback."

Two weeks later, when Claudia was served with legal papers by her then-former employer, alleging she'd shared trade secrets and committed fraud regarding her sick days, she knew this was surely not going to be the best chapter in her career story. In fact, it was little short of a nightmare. How could it all have gone so wrong?

LESSON TO LEARN: Ending an employment relation in the right way is far more complicated than most people believe. Resigning from a job, and transitioning to another, is deceptively complex, as the process is just loaded with potentially serious risks. If not handled with caution and care, resigning from your job can be extremely costly. There are, though, identifiable precautions that you can take to eliminate, or at least minimize, your risks in resigning.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Over the years, we've identified 21 precautions you should take - or at least consider taking - to eliminate, or at least minimize, risks in resigning form your job. Here's our list.

A. BEFORE You Give Notice

1. Must You Give Notice?: By "notice," we mean "notification that your last day of employment will be in a certain, specified number of days, weeks or months." No law requires notice of resignation, although sometimes it is legally required, for example if you've signed a contract that requires you to give notice.

The purpose of giving advance notice of resignation is to give your employer the opportunity and time to arrange transition of your duties, and for you to cooperate in that process. It also provides you with an opportunity to do what you can not to "burn bridges" of any kind - with colleagues, clients or your employer. Giving advance notice is generally in your interests, and in your employer's interests, as well, as a matter of mutual professionalism, and as a way to preserve good feelings post-employment relation. It's considered poor form not to give notice.

On the other hand, giving notice may not be in your interests if you are certain that you will be harmed by doing so; as an example, employers of some of our clients have reacted to receiving notice by trying to sabotage the employee's next job. If it's absolutely necessary to start a new job, or to attend to personal matters before starting a new job, or if you feel reprisals may take place, it's not absolutely necessary to give advance notice. Don't forget: that these days many employers don't give any notice at all when terminating individuals; sometimes terminated employees are even immediately marched out the door, at times accompanied by guards.

2. Are You Certain You Really Want to Leave?: Perhaps the most fundamental precautions to take in resigning from your job are these two questions: first, why are you leaving? And second, are you sure you really want to leave? At times, disappointment and disillusionment can blind us to the very substantial blessings and opportunities we enjoy. At other times, the grass on the other side of the street seems far greener than it really is.

Perhaps the worst mistake is leaving a job because you've concluded that you will never receive rewards, promotions or other objectives when, in fact, you've never clearly or resolutely requested those very same rewards, promotions or other objectives. Too many people forget that "If you don't ask, you won't get." You may say to yourself, "I'm sure they know I'm unhappy, and why I'm unhappy," or "I shouldn't even have to ask for this," but you must not forget to consider your boss's point of view for a moment: he or she is probably preoccupied with 1,000 other things that your dissatisfaction and its causes may not be nearly so obvious to him or her as you think.

3. Are You Sure You're "Free" to Leave?: There are a surprising number of reasons you may not be "free" to leave your employment These include: (a) employment contracts you may have entered into with a defined "term" of employment; (b) retention agreements you may have signed by which you were paid a sum of money to stay for a period of time after, commonly, a merger of companies; (c) so-called "garden-leave" agreements you may have signed by which you agreed to give a certain number of days, weeks or months of pre-resignation notice; (d) non-compete agreements (and related restrictive covenants) you may have signed that limit where you can work in the future; (e) immigration law requirements that permit you to work in a country only so long as you are working for a certain employer; (f) agreements you may have signed that require you to pay back to your employer monies it gave to you in the past if you don't work for a certain period of time, such as (i) education grants, (ii) relocation payments, (iii) even certain bonus awards; (g) loans that you may owe your employer that require immediate repayment upon resignation; (h) so-called "golden handcuffs" that entail loss of unvested options, restricted stock and other entitlements that have not yet vested; (i) even provisions that you never signed, but exist in an employee handbook, that say that employees who do not provide a minimum of, say, two months notice will be considered fired for "cause," with all of the negative implications that may have for your finances and reputation.

4. Secrecy About Your Intentions Is Essential: There are many reasons to keep you intentions to resign to yourself. Everyone has interests, and each person's interests are different. In fact, you can put a friend into a very difficult spot - even a situation harmful to him or her - if you share your intentions. Some people, including HR rep's, supervisors and recruiters have a legal obligation to share such "news" with your employer. Should your intentions somehow get out, it may then become impossible to change your mind, even if your new job falls through. As Ben Franklin said, "Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead." And as former Intel Chairman Andy Grove entitled his book, "Only the paranoid survive."

5. Get Your Next Employment Confirmed First: If there's one pre-resignation precaution you need to remember and follow, it's this one: you don't want to resign and then later find out that your next job hasn't materialized. Nothing could be worse.

While nothing you can do can make 100% sure your next job will become a reality, you can and should do everything in your power to make sure there are as few hitches as possible in the process. That's accomplished by carefully inquiring about each of the material points of your new job with your future boss of HR, and obtaining from them a written confirmation. Sometimes those will be set forth in an offer letter, or even a contract; most people get neither. Even that shouldn't stop you from preparing a written confirmation of your own, and asking you future boss for his or her written approval, by email or letter. Any written confirmation should include such things as your start date, your title, your responsibilities, your compensation, your benefits, your reporting structure, and the location of your office. However you do it, do everything you can to get your hiring confirmed in writing from your new employer before submitting your resignation to your present employer.

6. What You Can - And Can't - Take With You: This one's easy: keep what's yours; leave what's theirs. However, sometimes it's hard to distinguish between the two. The difficulties usually arise with (a) lists of information, such as your personal rolodex; employers often view these as their confidential information, trade secrets, or customer list; (b) copies of documents, such as the best research report you wrote two years ago that you'd like to keep as a writing sample; employers often view these as their proprietary property; and (c) smaller pieces of equipment, such as cell phones, Blackberry's, pagers, laptops and the like. As a general rule, if there is a dispute over who owns equipment, surrender it after taking personal information off it. If there's a dispute over who owns information or documents, give it to your employer but keep a copy. One special precaution: especially if you believe you may end up being sued by your previous employer for any reason, if your home computer has any company-related files on it for any reason, you would be well-advised to replace the its hard drive, and install onto the new hard drive only personal information. This way, you can't be accused of retaining or sharing company information in the future.

7. Strategic Timing of Your Departure: Timing is a big part of resigning. The important message here: don't fail to take into account important upcoming dates of all kinds. These include (a) the date on which your bonus will be paid; (b) vesting of stock options, restricted stock, and the like; (c) your hire-date anniversary, that may affect future pension credits; (c) 401k contribution dates; (e) end-dates of present insurance coverages, and start-dates of future insurance coverages, to ensure no gaps in between; (f) scheduled pay raises, for final salary may impact pension and other long-term payment calculations; (g) long-term retirement and health plan "rules" of 65, 75 and the like, that are based on age and years of service.

8. Consider Having an Employment Attorney "On Call": In employment matters, it's always preferable to keep attorneys - and even mention of attorneys - out of discussions. That being said, knowing your legal rights, and having an attorney ready to act in the event of unforeseeable events, may be a smart idea. You don't want to experience delay if, as examples, you're accused of impropriety, served with legal papers, or publicly defamed.

B. WHEN You Give Notice

9. Who to Speak With First: As a general rule, it's proper procedure to give notice of resignation directly to your immediate supervisor, provided he or she is available; if not available, then to his or her immediate superior. That being, said, if you have a "rabbi," mentor or "godfather" in your organization, and that person has been especially helpful in the course of your career, it may prove wise to provide that person with a respectful "heads-up thank you" before giving notice. These sorts of special business relations need to be treated with the utmost sensitivity.

10. How Much Notice?: The first question is "Have you agreed to give at least some minimum notice?" If so, you should honor that agreement. If not, the proper notice period depends on you, your title, and your level of responsibilities. On a clerical level, the most common notice period is two weeks. For those with greater responsibilities, the expected level of notice rises to some four weeks; whether there are others who can step in to fulfill your essential tasks may dictate even greater notice. It's not unheard of for senior executives with unique talents and relations to give 60 to 90 days notice. [Bear in mind the dictates of strategic timing, laid out in Precaution 7, above.]

11. What to Say, and How to Say It: You should give your resignation in person, with an immediate follow-up letter. In both your in-person, oral resignation, and in your follow-up resignation letter, three things are essential: First, "I've decided to resign." Second, "My last day with the company will be.[a certain date.] Third, "Thank you for the opportunity to work with you." Any more than that can only hurt you. You should specifically avoid negativity, your reasons for leaving, and the identity of your next employer. You should avoid responding to emotional pleas. Instead, you should be clear, dispassionate and resolute. This 1 - 2 - 3 approach is, without a doubt, the most effective and least risky way to submit your oral resignation.

12. Keep Your Emotions in Check: Leaving a job entails ending several close and important relations at once. It can be an emotional time, with both good and bad emotions rising to the surface. You should do everything you can to keep those emotions, of every kind, beneath the surface. It always helps to do all you can to reduce stress and anxiety at a time like this by extra measures of, among other things, exercise, prayer, yoga, meditation and other non-harmful practices. Likewise, this is a good time to stay clear of relations or situations that usually induce anxiety.

13. Be Prepared for a Counter-Offer to Stay: Counter-offers, and acceptance of counter-offers, are becoming more and more common. In fact, some clients seek employment opportunities elsewhere merely to provoke a counter-offer from their present employer. We advise our clients to treat counter-offers with supreme suspicion because "If they didn't appreciate you before you got another job, are you sure they'll truly appreciate you after that prospective job is no longer available to you?"

If you're considering accepting a counter-offer, there are three essential points to insist upon: (a) that it must be placed into a written, signed agreement, (b) that it be completed and signed in just a few days, to ensure that it does not merely "spoil" your new job possibility, and (c) that it clearly state that the promised promotion, raise, bonus or other reward, be given to you "guaranteed, in all events, and to last no less than one full year." Otherwise, you may be promoted for one day and then fired, or promised a bonus next year, but fired next week.

14. Be Prepared, As Well, to Be Shown the Door: It's also possible that, upon your giving notice of resignation, you may be fired "on the spot." What's the likelihood? You can generally tell by how your employer has acted in the past. It always pays to be prepared to be shown the door. Besides the other precautions noted above, it's always wise to quietly remove personal information from your office computer, take home copies of non-secret "portfolio" materials, and quietly make an inventory of purely personal items - pictures and the like - in your office, for later removal.

C. AFTER You Give Notice

15. Visiting HR for the "Exit Interview": Over the past few years, a new office "ritual" has become commonplace, in which HR inquiries and issues are answered, completed and resolved. At least those are the espoused purposes of "exit interviews." In most companies, participation is not mandatory; if your company claims it is mandatory for you, you might ask what the "penalty(s)" may be for refusal.

For your purposes, bring a pad, and ask all questions you may have, including: (a) Who should I contact in the future if I have questions?; (b) Can I have a copy of my HR file?; (c) How do I arrange for continuation of various insurance policies?; (d) When returning keys, cell phones, ID cards and the like, do I get a receipt?; (e) Will I get paid accrued but unused vacation, personal and sick days; if so, how many?; and (f) How long do I have to submit receipts for unpaid business and/or medical expenses?

HR may have its own objectives to be fulfilled in an "exit interview," about which you must be cautious. They include: (a) getting you to sign things you should not sign, such as releases; (b) asking why you are leaving, which is not their business; (c) reminding you of your confidentiality (and possibly non-compete) obligations; (d) asking you where you'll be working, which is not their business, and (e) giving you your federal C.O.B.R.A. insurance-continuation forms.

In your exit interview, please don't ever consider doing these four things: (1) believe your HR rep is your friend;
2) sign anything other than a receipt for forms given to you; (3) criticize former colleagues or bosses; or (4) discuss your future plans.

16. Consider Committee and Board Memberships: Your job may entail your participation on internal committees and task forces, as well as external trade groups and associations. Though it is often automatic, consider how best to resign from each internal group, making sure not to burn bridges in doing so. If you've acted as your employer's representative on external boards and the like, your resignation from your present job may not require your complete resignation fro the trade group or association, but merely a re-designation as an at-large member. Don't presume you need to resign from such trade groups upon resignation, as they may prove invaluable to you in future employment.

Incidentally, always inquir about whether your service on boards and committees entitles you to continued protection of insurance coverages, including "directors and officers" ("D&O") policies, and "errors and omissions" ("E&O") policies. If you believe fiduciary obligations may leave you open to future lawsuits, request written assurances of continuing insurance and indemnity coverages, as well..

17. Trade Secrets and Later Competing With Your Employer: There are two kinds of restrictions that may continue to affect you after you leave your employer: (a) those the law places on you, and (b) those only you can place on yourself by signing an agreement to do so. The first category - the kind the law places on you - is aimed mostly at not permitting you to steal things from your employer, including valuable "trade secrets," which are defined as "information, developed through effort and expense, and kept secret, that gives your employer a business advantage." Examples include chemical formulas, customer lists and marketing plans. These are protected by the law; you can go to jail for taking them with you.

The latter category - restrictions you've agreed to - include the common "non-competition" agreement and their "cousins." If you haven't signed one of these, either as a separate agreement or as part of an agreement to accept employment, stock options, a bonus, or some other reward, you can usually presume you'll be free of future restrictions.

As a general rule, unless you (a) steal secrets or other valuable property, or (b) violate the terms of a written agreement to restrict your future activities, you are entirely free to later compete with your employer, consistent with our free enterprise system.

18. Remember: A Resignation is Not a Release: It's important to bear in mind that resigning from your job entails only one thing: ending the relation; resigning has no direct effect on moneys owed you, or other claims you may have against your employer. By resigning from your job you are not releasing your employer from any obligations your employer may still have to you, of any kind, whether they are regarding pension calculations, raises promised but denied, illegal harassment or discrimination, or regarding retaliation against you for "whistle-blowing."

For this reason, This means, first, that you should never sign any release form or similar document handed to you at your exit interview or sent to you afterwards. Also, be aware that you have more time to make any claims you may have against your employer. For federal "Sarbanes-Oxley retaliation claims, you have 90 days. For discrimination claims, you may have 180 or 310 days, depending on the state you live in. For claims of defamation, you may have up to one year. For claims of negligence or fraud, you may have up to three years. For claims of broken contracts or promises, you may have up to six years. These deadlines vary from state to state and, of course, should be discussed with an attorney.

19. Are You Due Severance? There's a Good Chance: It may seem counter-intuitive, but even those who resign may be due, or be able to collect, severance. First, under certain agreements or benefit plans, and under certain circumstances, you could be entitled to resign and still collect severance. For example, after a corporate merger, many companies request that you remain in your job, but entitle you to severance if your duties change substantively. In this case, you can resign, and collect severance, too. As another example, employees who resign after they have been harassed, discriminated against, or retaliated against for "whistle-blowing" may both resign and collect severance, too. Never presume you're not entitled to collect severance.

20. References, Recommendations and Departure Statements: Though nearly every company has a policy against giving out post-employment "references," one of the best things you can do before you resign is to confidentially ask superiors, colleagues and even clients if they would serve as future references for you. Especially if asked respectfully, chances are they will say "yes." One thing's for sure: you'll have enhanced credibility, leverage and confidence in every future interview if you can readily produce written testimonials to your dedication, knowledge, abilities and value. We suggest you offer to produce a "draft" for such people, as these days everyone's so busy, and to do so only makes it that much easier for them. Incidentally, we refer these as "departure statements" to counter any suggestion from HR representatives that they violate corporate policies.

21. When Can You Tell Others of Your Move?: That's a trick question, meant to tell if you're still alert after reading this far. There are two parts to your "move," departure and arrival. Regarding your departure, you're entirely free to tell people you'll be leaving, as soon as you've given your notice of resignation to your superior.

The "arrival" information is a very different story. While the fact you're leaving can be shared, you should do your utmost not to tell clients and customers where you're going, because this invites potentially severe legal troubles. Why? That's because you could be accused of "soliciting" them to go with you, which would be both a reason for your company to fire you before you left voluntarily, possibly suing you for theft of trade secrets or interfering with their business while you're employed by them, as well as a reason for your "old" employer to contact your "new" employer and insist they not hire you, or face a "poaching" lawsuit. This is essentially a lawsuit in which one company accuses another of "stealing" its employees and clients, illegally. It's a messy thing, something you don't want to be part of, and something you can avoid by keeping your silence about where it is you're headed. It's for this reason "where you're headed" is something to be shared only after "you've arrived there." Once you've left, then soliciting the business of old clients and even former colleagues to come join you becomes "fair game."

These are not all of the precautions that need by taken by resigning executives, but they are the 21 precautions we view as most necessary. Every person, every assignment, every company and every transition has unique problems. You should try to customize your own precautions to address your employer's facts, history and culture.

Ten Tips for Caring for Your Betta Fish

Betta fish, also called Siamese fighting fish are one of the most popular types of fish found in homes across the world. Their vibrant color and active lifestyle seems to draw in fish fanatics as well as those who have never had fish before. Betta's are relatively easy to care for and their low maintenance is particularly appealing to people who would like to have fish but don't have a lot of time to care for them.

Once you bring your Betta's home you should begin to familiarize yourself with their movements and typical behavior patterns. When you look at your fish after you've had them for awhile you'll know if something is wrong, if they are not feeling well, or if the water in their bowl is not in the best condition simply by being observant.

1. Make sure the jar or bowl that you keep your Betta in is big enough so that he can swim around and not bump or tear his fins or scales. Also be sure there is plenty of surface area so that he can get enough oxygen.

2. Your Betta will thrive in the cleanest water that you can provide for him. He does not require a filtration system, but you should change out a third of his water every three days so it stays fresh and clean and keeps your finned friend from getting bacterial or fungal infections. Aged water (water that has set out for twenty four hours) is what should be used to replace the old water.

3. Do not put your Betta fish with other Betta's. They are called Siamese fighting fish because they are, in fact, fighting fish. They will tear at one another, often causing the death of at least one fish before they stop. Betta's can be coupled with algae eaters, guppies, or corydorus catfish safely.

4. Use a turkey baster to clean small particles of uneaten food or debris from the bottom of the bowl or jar. Allowing this debris to sit at the bottom of the jar will cause the water to become cloudy, unsanitary, and to smell awful.

5. The PH of your tank should be at exactly 7.0. You can get a PH testing kit at your pet store along with solutions to minimize or increase the PH of your water.

6. When you clean the plants, rocks, or decorations in the bowl you should never use soap on them. It's very hard to completely rinse all soap from these items and the soap residue can harm or even kill your Betta. Instead, use warm water and an abrasive brush to clean his things.

7. Keep your Betta tank, jar, or bowl covered! Your Beta will jump and you don't want him to end up flopping on the tabletop! Keeping the water level at least two inches from the top of the tank should also cut down on this problem.

8. Your Betta is a meat eater and likes live foods, such as brine shrimp the best. Frozen bloodworms are also a good choice for your meat eater. Most Betta fish will happily eat the Betta pellets sold at most pet stores. For a special treat every now and again you should offer some live food! You'll have fun watching him eat it up!

9. Do not decorate your Betta bowl with rocks or marbles that may cause your Betta to get stuck between or under them. Be sure that they are a flat smooth surface that provides no risk to the health of your fish.

10. Remember that your fish is a living, breathing responsibility. You need to feed, clean, and care for your Betta just like you would any other pet. If he's sick take him to the vet, if he's hungry feed him, if his home is dirty, clean it.

That's it! These ten tips for caring for your Betta fish will have you well on your way to keeping a healthy fish. Internet Betta Groups or library books can be a great source of information should you want to learn more about your finned friend!

Most Popular Sports Around The World

All types of sports are popular globally, but what sports can we call THE most popular in the world? Some of the answers may surprise you.

It's no surprise that football, or what Americans call "soccer" is the world's most popular sport to play and to watch. An estimated 3.5 billion people either watch or play football. The World Cup is the global championship of the sport and this tournament is played every four years. The World Cup itself is one of the highest rated sports on television, with many countries tuning in en masse to watch their country's team play. Football is popular in all of the UK, Europe, Asia as well as South America. However, with so many other sports being popular, the Unites States still lags behind in their interest in "soccer".

Next, we have cricket. This sport which consists of a bat and a ball, has been around for hundreds of years and originated in England. The sport is popular in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, some African countries, some Caribbean countries and it is the most popular sport in the countries of India and Pakistan. An estimated 3 billion people watch or play cricket each year.

The next most popular sport is a sure surprise, and that is field hockey, with an estimated 2 billion players or watchers, mostly in Asian countries, European countries, Australia and around Africa. This sport tends to be played in high schools in the United States, usually by girls only.

Coming up next is tennis. Not so surprising, but there are an estimated 1 billion players and watchers of tennis around the world. Tennis tends to be popular in richer countries, including the United States, Asian countries, Australia and Europe. There are four main tournaments in tennis, called "Grand Slams" at which players from many countries play. The first is the Australian Open, then the French Open, Wimbledon and then the US Open in late August. The Grand Slam tournaments tend to get the most attention during the tennis season.

Next we have volleyball. Yet another surprise, with an estimated 900 million viewers or players around the world. Volleyball is popular in the United States, where the sport originated, as well as in Brazil, all over Europe, Russia, China and Japan. Volleyball is a popular high school sport in many countries due to it's team centered play and lack of specialized equipment requirements.

Also popular is table tennis, otherwise known as Ping Pong. This is another surprisingly popular sport around the world, with an estimated 900 million watchers or players. Table tennis originated in England as an after dinner activity for Victorians in the late 19th century. Table tennis as a competitive sport is popular in many countries but is especially popular in China, Korea and Singapore.

After these sports, we have a triumvirate of more mainstream American sports including baseball, golf, American football and basketball, with each sport attracting between 400 and 500 million players or watchers worldwide.

Wiccan Invocations, Chants and Prayers

An Invocation is the calling of a God or Goddess. Wiccan witches work with the Gods and Goddesses for their universal energies to provide balance in the magical rituals. The balance is important with male and female, yin and yang, two energy sources to provide harmony and the correct direction of the channeled energy. Invocations can be as simple or as complex as you desire. Gods and Goddesses can be invoked with herbs, numbers, colours even images, and at certain times of year corresponding to the lunar or solar cycle.

Invocation of the Elements

Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Elements of Astral birth, I call you now, attend to me.

In the circle rightly cast, Safe from psychic curse or blast, I call you now, attend to me.

From cave and desert, sea and hill, By wand, blade, cup and pentacle, I call you now, attend to me.

This is my will, so mote it be!

These prayers below can be utilized to invoke the Goddess and God during ritual following the casting of the circle. You can change the words as you see fit. These are related to one specific deity but "All the Gods are one God; and all the Goddesses are one Goddess, and there is one initiator." You could also use the chants to raise energy levels.

Invocation to the Goddess

Crescent One of the starry skies, Flowered One of the fertile plain,

Flowing One of the ocean's sighs, Blessed One of the gentle rain.

Hear my chant 'midst the standing stones, Open me to your mystic light.

Waken me to your silver tones, Be with me in my sacred rite!

Invocation to Pan

O Great God Pan, Beast and man, Shepherd of goats and Lord of the Land,

I call you to attend my rites, On this most magical of nights.

God of the wine, God of the vine, God of the fields and god of the kine,

Attend my circle with your love, And send Your blessings from above.

Help me to heal, Help me to feel, Help me to bring forth love and weal.

Pan of the forests, Pan of the glade, Be with me as my magic is made!

Isis Invocation

Isis of the Moon, You who are all that ever was,

All that is, And all that shall be.

Come veiled Queen of Night, Come as the scent of the sacred lotus,

Charging my circle, With love and magic.

Do descend upon my circle, I pray, O Blessed Isis!

Prayer to the Horned God

Horned One of the wilderness, Winged One of the shining skies,

Rayed One of the splen'drous Sun, Fallen One of the Samhain cries.

I call amidst the standing stones, Praying that you, O ancient One,

Will design to bless my mystic rites, O fiery Lord of the Blazing Sun!

New Moon Chant to Diana

Waxing, waxing, growing, growing, Diana's power is flowing, flowing. (Repeat)

Call to the God

Ancient God of the forest deeps, Master of beast and Sun,

Here where the world is hushed and sleeps, Now that the day is done.

I call You in the ancient way, Here in my circle round,

Asking that You will hear me pray, And send Your Sun force down.

Invocation to the Goddess

Gracious Goddess, You who are the Queen of the Gods,

the lamp of night, the creator of all that is wild and free,

Mother of woman and man, Lover of the Horned God and protectress of all the Wicca,

Descend I pray, With Your Lunar ray of power, upon my circle here!

Invocation to the God

Blazing God, You Who are the King of the Gods,

Lord of the Sun, Master of all that is wild and free,

Father of woman and man, Lover of the Moon Goddess and protector of all the Wicca,

Descend I pray, With Your Solar ray of power, upon my circle here!

Goddess Chant

Luna, Luna, Luna, Diana, Luna, Luna, Luna, Diana

Bless me, bless me, bless me, Diana, Luna, Luna, Luna, Diana. (Repeat)

Evening Chant to the God

Hail fair Sun, Ruler of day, Rise on the morn, To light my way.

(Said while watching the sunset)

Evening Chant to the Goddess

Hail fair Moon, Ruler of night, Guard me and mine, Until the light.

(Said while Moon gazing)

Goddess Chant

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, Ooooooooooooooooooh, Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu,

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

The vowels of the English Language. Pronounce A=Ah, O=O, U=Oo, E=E, I=eye. This rouses the psychic mind and produces Goddess awareness.

10 Easy Ways to Make a Positive Environmental Impact

How Can I Make Simple Changes That Positively Impact the Environment?

Easy Ways to Go Green

It's the New Year. Again. Many of us decide to make changes in our lives around this time - that's no surprise. Often, the resolutions we create for ourselves are dramatic, powerful, even overwhelming. Losing lots of weight, going vegetarian, quitting smoking - we all have our Ace in the hole. Too many years pass, however, when we lose sight of these lofty goals and before the end of the first quarter, we're already off our game and back to smoking, back to sleeping in, off the daily scheme of going to the gym.

This isn't a post about how to stay on track with your goals. This isn't about making smaller steps in between milestones or pinning up a huge calendar to your wall and filling it up with black X's every time you complete another day on the plus side.

Achieving the Goal of Going Green

I like to think about the goals I want to achieve in as realistic a manner possible. That means - what will actualizing and accomplishing my goals look like on a Tuesday at 1:30 in the afternoon, or a typical Saturday morning at 9:43. That's more real to me, and consequently more manageable. My goal for this year? To go more green, in as many ways possible. Like many, I am willing to work for it, but I wonder if there aren't others who would make positive changes if they were easy to accomplish, and didn't involve too much work.

Big differences are often made with tiny, incremental shifts - one can't tell just how much of a positive impact is being made by looking at a few of those small steps, but taken in an aggregate form, the impact can be tremendous.

That said, here is a list of ten tiny, realistic steps that I am going to take this year to go more green. If we all do what we can to even uphold a few of these things, the positive impact on our environment would be huge.

Ten Easy Ways to Positively Impact the Environment

1.) Support Farmer's Markets

Buying local has a dramatic impact on both your health and the environment. While you achieve the goal of supporting local, organic, independent farmers, you also have the opportunity to eat seasonally and raise the bar for yourself in terms of healthy eating habits. By the way - have you ever tasted a plum, or a tomato, or even locally grown, organic salad greens? You'll never shop at the super market again if you have taste buds.

You'll be filling your body with produce that is at its freshest, and increasing your consumption of organic produce is incredibly beneficial. The National Resources Defense Council notes that much of the U.S. produce will travel an average of around 1,500 miles before it makes its way into your super market. The negative impact on the planet is huge - think of the pollution alone that is created in that transport.

2.) Toilet Paper

Seriously. Find it online or at your super market, local Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. If your super market doesn't have it - take a second and speak to customer service about ordering it, and do it every time you shop there. They'll stock it eventually. We're talking about toilet paper made with recycled paper. The impact on the environment in terms of the total number of trees saved each year is huge. Your bumm won't know the difference.

3.) Cold Water Wash

Don't personalize your laundry - sure, you like to take a warm bath, but do your old sweat socks, boxer shorts and yoga pants know the difference? A really simple thing to change in your daily or weekly routine, and the environmental impact is great. Procter & Gamble notes that if we all started to use cold water in the washing machines, we could save enough energy to light two and a half million homes for a year.

4.) Bad Bottled Water Habits

How's this for facts: According to National Geographic magazine, Americans buy approximately 7 billion gallons of bottled water a year. This amounts to roughly 22 billion plastic bottles that eventually get thrown away, and often not in the recycling bin. Consider the (yearly) 1.5 million barrels of oil that it takes to produce those plastic bottles - this amount is enough to fuel nearly 100,000 cars for an entire year. Ways to improve? Buy a water filter and drink tap water that has been properly filtered. Order large bottle service from an organization like Arrowhead or Sparkletts, and drink from a glass at home or at work. At the very least, recycle the plastic bottles that you do use - always.

5.) Re-use Gift Wrapping Paper

Unwrap gifts with a little concern, or teach your little ones a new environmental lesson before they make a mess with the ripping into birthday or holiday packaging. The amount of paper that could be saved is astronomical, if each of us were to recycle wrapping paper from just a few gifts each year.

Get a bag or a box, and start saving bows, ribbons and neatly folded, carefully removed gift wrapping paper. No one will know the difference. Trust me. And if they do, you have the perfect opportunity to bring up a conversation about conservation, without sounding overbearing. They'll feel great to have helped out without having done anything.

6.) Grocery Bags

When they ask you if you want paper or plastic, just say neither. Spend a dollar at the store and buy a re-usable cotton or hemp bag, and keep them in the trunk of your car for shopping. For a look at the environmental impact of both paper bags and plastic bags [http://www.greeneggsandplanet.com/blog], read these former blog posts. Get creative with your kids and find blank canvas bags online - this will give your kids a chance to be creative, and paint or decorate the grocery bags to personalize them.

7.) Houseplants Can Be Your Friends

It has been noted that many green house plants can assist in the process of removing indoor air pollutants if you cultivate and care for them indoors. Plants like English ivy and others such as golden pothos practically grow themselves. Don't worry - they're harder to kill than keep alive. And they'll be helping keep you alive as they fight environmental toxins in the home.

8.) Eliminate Junk Mail

Hate the junk mail that comes in your mail box just about every day? For most of us, that pile of materials goes directly into the trash. For others, it goes directly into the recycling bin. Neither party ever reads any of it, and yet it still shows up every day. Take a second and visit the Direct Marketing Association's Mail Preference Service to register not to receive junk mail any longer. The process may take a few months, but eventually, you won't get so much trash in the mail.

9.) Buy Bulk

Tea drinker? Couple of trips to the local coffee house every morning? Eat cereal or oatmeal? Next time you buy tea, for instance, think about choosing loose leaf over packaged tea. Reducing the amount of packaging materials that you use can make a big difference to the environment.

Think about packaged tea - there's the card stock paper box wrapped in plastic, the paper inside, the plastic that is often wrapped around the tea bag, the tea bag, the string, the tiny staple and the tea tag. All of those materials get disposed of, typically not recycled, and much of it can be eliminated by buying bulk loose leaf tea and using your own tea infuser.

10.) Green Your Driving

No - I'm not going to make a blanket statement that we should all run out and buy a brand new Prius - it's not going to be possible for everyone and it isn't the only way to green up your vehicle. Further, there's no reason to make people feel bad about failing so miserably right out of the gate when it comes to efficient vehicles.

If you can afford it, buy a hybrid. But there are plenty of other ways to do something about fuel consumption and vehicle pollution. Carpool if and when you can - you have to get over identifying with your vehicle and your alone time first, but it's worth the small sacrifice. Bike to work if you can; you'll be getting exercise and helping the planet at the same time.

Or just plain drive smarter when you get behind the wheel - get timely tuneups and keep your tires inflated to the proper pressure to ensure maximum gas-saving efficiency. If you take long trips on the highway (out of the way of traffic), then switch to cruise control to improve your mileage. Curb your urge to drive like your car is a weapon - take off from stops less aggressively, brake more gently and slow down when you can. The speed limit isn't so bad. And get out of the drive-through: either quit the fast food or park the car and walk it.

Final Thoughts on Easy Steps to Going Green

Taking meaningful yet small steps towards going greener this year can lead to real, measurable and positive change for the planet. A few easy questions here and there, changing a habit or two, educating yourself and making smarter choices - a little bit at a time is really all that it takes. Think about the many millions of people living in America, making one collective change all at once - that alone could pay huge dividends for our future.

2012 Will Be The Year Civilization Changes Forever

THE CULMINATION

[This article was first published Dec. 14, 2007. It was last updated Oct. 15, 2011. Updates are often, but not always, in brackets.]

The year 2012 marks the time that the world's old civilization will culminate. This is not to say that the world will be annihilated because the world will go on. In 2012, we will see a dramatic increase in the direct intervention of Jesus Christ as He begins to take control of governments of the world, beginning with the Government of the United States, the Parliament of Great Britain and the Government of the European Community. After Jesus unites His Western forces, He will rally them to destroy end-time Babylon and the Beast who rules over Babylon. Simultaneously, Jesus will use His Two Witnesses to unmask the Beast in front of the world audience. This act will provoke the Beast to murder the Two Witnesses of Jesus in front of a world audience.

In 2012, many Old Testament personages, including Jesus Christ, will continue their ministries in the bodies of the Two Witnesses of Jesus. The resurrected ministries of prophets will proceed to their culminations. I am speaking metaphorically.

We will see a continuation of the end-time ministries of John the Revelator, Daniel, and Elijah. Those men were to stand up again at the end of time. They will stand up in the bodies of the Two Witnesses of Jesus. Those prophets of old will be embodied in the Two Witnesses of God.

666- DEFEAT OF THE BEAST

The year 2012 marks the time that Jesus directly intervenes to control affairs in the United States and Britain in order to thwart an upcoming Marxist/corporate dictatorship that would have succeeded by 2016.

[Update: A judgment period of 9 years after 2012 will lead up to the destruction of the Beast and Babylon. (The number 9 has Gematriatic meaning of "judgment.") The last 7 years (2015-2021) in this judgment period are the years of the "Great Tribulation." The number 7 has Gematriatic meaning of "complete." Judgment Day would follow in the year 2021 AD. In 2022 AD, Western forces will execute complete judgment on end-time Babylon.]

When the Beast and those who believe in the bestial way of life, murder God's Two Witnesses, the bestial world will culminate. The Old World of bestial conduct will soon after be annihilated.

The great turnaround of 2012 is associated with the 2012 Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth. This could be understood in the way that prisms and camera lenses work. When the world is focused into a camera lens, it is reduced to nothing. But, out of the other side of the lens the world is projected upside down.

Actually, our present world is upside down. The world that comes after 2012 will be right side up because the Beast and the bestial way of life will be identified. As a result, the world would be determined to destroy of the Beast and Babylon. The world would finally get the picture in a metaphoric sense.

DIAMOND OF QUEEN ELIZABETH

Queen Elizabeth's diamond in 2012 is such a prism. That was why Freemasons honored her Diamond Jubilee. The Washington Monument was built, in part, as a prophecy of her 2012 Diamond Jubilee. The aluminum cap on the monument represents Queen Elizabeth's diamond.

Freemasons expressed their prophecies in a calendar. On their calendar, Masons drew a diamond that identified the year of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee. Bear in mind that this calendar is 200 years old and probably thousands of years old.

THE GAP

There is a gap between our present world and the New World. This gap represents the 3 days that the Two Witnesses of Jesus would lie dead in the streets. The Two Witnesses of God will stand in the gap between the wrath of God and the world.

RESURRECTION OF TWO WITNESSES

After three days, God's Two Witnesses will be sparked back to life. They will stand up and shock the world. These two individuals will be the first people to enter into the new world that God is creating. They are the new Adam and Eve, and those who follow them are their spiritual children.

NEW ADAM & EVE

6,000 years prior to these end-time events, the first Adam and Eve had been created. The difference between the first Adam and Eve and the Adam and Eve of our time is that our Adam and Eve will reject the Beast. In the Garden of Eden, the first Adam and Eve submitted to the Beast, whose imposing reptilian body was genetically re-engineered by God to have the form of a lowly dirt-eating snake. The world suffered 6,000 years as a result of the choice of the first Adam and Eve to follow the Beast. Our Two Witnesses will be murdered because they will NOT submit to the Beast in the tree of Babylonian civilization.

You are probably thinking that God's Two Witnesses are men. This is correct in the sense that they complete the prophetic works of the two prophets, Daniel and John. Remember that God told both those men that they would return to do their work in the end-time? Metaphorically speaking, those two prophets have returned as God's Two Witnesses.

THE FEMALE LAMB OF PENTECOST

The Two Witnesses of God had been prophesied by animal sacrifices. On the Day of Pentecost, two unblemished lambs were sacrificed. Unlike those male animals that represented Jesus Christ, the lambs of Pentecost were either gender, male or female.

People have had a hard time with the sacrifice of a female animal because they assume that every sacrifice represented the male Jesus Christ. They had no way of knowing that Old Testament Israelites had been acting out the end-time sacrifice, by the Church, of one of God's Two Witnesses who would be the mother of God's new world. That lamb would be female. It will be the Church that sacrifices/murders the Two Lambs of God. That is why the female lamb was sacrificed on the Day of Pentecost. Pentecost was the day that the Christian Church was created on.

However, a male lamb could be sacrificed for this lady because she represents a male prophet. This understanding could have been why Leonardo da Vinci portrayed John the Revelator as a woman in his mysterious painting of the Last Supper. Leonardo understood that John's end-time counterpart would be an end-time Eve, one of God's Two Witnesses and a female lamb of God.

21-YEAR MINISTRIES

You might ask why you have never heard about God's Two Witnesses. The answer is that they have been ignored since 1991, when they began their 21-year ministry.

You remember that Elijah was taken to Heaven after he completed his ministry. The ministry of Jesus ended in the midst of a week. However, Jesus would return through His Two Witnesses in order to complete that week. Likewise, Elijah would return. Jesus would complete His week as a prophetic week, which became a span of 7 years rather than 7 days. Jesus would complete the remaining 1260 days of that week of years through His Two Witnesses.

God's Two Witnesses would also do a 21-year ministry, which would normally end in 2012 AD when they would be age 66 (Jesus was age 33). However, Jesus would use them to CONTINUE His work, and the work of Elijah, through His Two Witnesses.

Elijah had worked to overthrown evil Ahab and an evil son of Ahab. We could identify Ahab and his treacherous wife, Jezebel, with our present-day national leaders. The similarity is obvious.

AGES 33 & 66

God's Two Witnesses have a ministry that is similar to the ministries of Elijah and Jesus, because they are part of the work of end-time Elijah (God works through more than one person in order to do the end-time work of Elijah). Normally, God's Two Witnesses would be murdered at age 66, after 21 years of doing their Father's business. That would be because Jesus was murdered at age 33, after His 21-year ministry. Similarly, Elijah went to Heaven after his ministry. However, Jesus will have CONTINUED His ministry, and the ministry of Elijah, through His Two Witnesses. In a sense, Jesus and Elijah would continue where they left off.

Here is the concept: Jesus who went to Heaven at age 33. His end-time work would return through His Two Witnesses when they reached age 33. Jesus then raised them during the following 33 years, until His Two Witnesses would be age 66 in 2012 AD.

In 2012 AD, Jesus would repeat His ministry through them. In time, Jesus would be executed a second time when the Church executes His Two Witnesses.

The ministry of the prophet Elisha followed the ministry of the prophet Elijah. Jesus would do an end-time work of Elisha after He did an end-time work of Elijah.

The end-time ministry of Elisha would coincide with the 70th week of years that Daniel referred to. That week of years would be the Great Tribulation, 2015 to 2021 AD. Jesus would complete the Great Tribulation as an end-time Elisha.

The last 1260 days of the lives of God's Two Witnesses would be increasingly intense and their work would culminate with their executions by the Beast who ascends out of the Bottomless Pit of political obscurity.

THE SECOND EXECUTION OF JESUS

It is IMPOSSIBLE for Christians who reject the Two Witnesses of Jesus to receive eternal life, because they will have crucified Jesus a second time. Notice that this warning is in Hebrew 6:6, which has verse numbers of 66. These numbers refer to people who follow the Beast. Those Church members who follow the Beast, rather than the Two Witnesses of Jesus, have fallen away, and have crucified Jesus a second time. They may not crucify Jesus a second time and expect to receive eternal life.

(Hebrew 6:6)... them who have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

Everyone in the world hated Jesus. He had no allies. His friends deserted Him. The religious establishment hated Him more others because He threatened their income and glory.

The ministry of God's Two Witnesses is described in Revelation 11 as a repetition of the ministry of Jesus Christ in some ways. We would rightly assume that the world establishment would also hate the Two Witnesses of Jesus- and for the same reasons that it hated Jesus.

You might ask why the religious establishment is not carefully listening for God's Two Witnesses. The truth is that it has no desire to meet God's Two Witnesses. YOUR religious leader absolutely does not want anything to do with Jesus and His Two Witnesses. Lukewarm religious leaders of the end time are using religion for their financial and egotistical benefits- just as Jesus said that they would be.

Jesus prophesied this very situation in parable. For example, Jesus said that religious leaders would be abusing the children of God. Abuse and exploitation is commonplace today. The homeless live in cardboard boxes outside the mansion gates of millionaire ministers. Poor believers struggle to support the comfortable lifestyles of Church leaders with tithes and offerings that would otherwise pay their bills and feed their children.

In His Book of Revelation, Jesus describes the Whore of Babylon who drinks the lifeblood of the saints out of a Communion cup. This is an apt description of modern-day Televangelists and other millionaire Church leaders. Instead of serving the children of God, ministers have the children of God serving them. This is the opposite of the example that was set by Jesus and His Apostles.

Jesus said in parable that ministers would be so busy with their religious businesses (bringing in money); they would reject Christ's invitation to His Wedding Feast. Many ministers are millionaires and/or wealthy nowadays. The last thing they want is to be Christ-like because they would need to give up their empires.

Too many ministers live lifestyles that are completely against the teachings of Jesus. It is all too obvious why most religious leaders of today do not want Jesus to actually return. It is all too obvious why lukewarm Laodicean ministers intentionally divert the attention of their lukewarm followers away from God's Two Witnesses, who, in stark contrast, are dressed in the sackcloth of poverty and humility.

TEMPLE AGAIN DESTROYED

At the time that Jesus came to earth as a human 2,000 years ago; the religious establishment believed that it was to be made into a great kingdom. People of God wanted to be greater than people of the Roman Empire were (talk about class envy). Jesus said that they would not be made into the rich and egotistical kingdom that they desired. So, the Church denounced Jesus as an imposter and murdered Him.

Today, the Church wants to be made into the Kingdom of God. Christians want to be raptured to positions of wealth and power so that they can lord over others. Like Jesus, God's Two Witnesses will tell them they will not be in God's Kingdom. Predictably, the Church will denounce them as imposters and murder them. We read in Scripture that God will retaliate against the lukewarm Church, just as He retaliated against the Temple in 70 AD by sending red Roman armies to destroy it. (In the time of Jesus, Babylon was the Roman Empire.)

Jesus wept because He foresaw that red Roman armies would destroy the Temple because it rejected Him. Likewise, God's Two Witnesses are distressed to foresee that Red armies will destroy the Church because it will have reject them and their life-saving warning about the worship of the Beast. Their profound message is that no Christian who follows the Beast, or is predatorial like beasts are, will receive eternal life. God would destroy those incorrigible members of the Church, just as He had destroyed those incorrigible members of the Temple. Predictably, death awaits predatorial religious leaders and their followers if they no not heed this end-time warning from God through His Two Witnesses.

YOUR ETERNAL LIFE OR ETERNAL DEATH?

The main importance of 2012 as far as you are concerned is that you could begin your 9-year journey to the Rapture.

God's Two Witnesses have information that could lead to your eternal life. It is the identity and basic character of the Beast. They know his identity because they identified his Mark. The Mark is not 666. God has used 666 as a diversion and a way to seal unwanted people out of understanding. God does not want incorrigible sinners to cheat during their 9-year judgment, 2012 to 2021.

If you humble yourself to learn the identity of the Beast, you could examine his personality, character and behavior. You could compare yourself to him. If you found a match, then you would realize that you would need to change in order to be ready for Judgment Day.

Do not despair because everybody has a match. Your Bible says that, the whole world follows the Beast. However, you may not continue to follow the Beast.

DO YOU WORSHIP THE BEAST?

Yes, you presently follow the Beast, just as Jesus said. However, you could make changes by repenting and altering your mindset and behavior. The first word out of the mouths of men who preached the gospel was REPENT. You must measure yourself against the Beast and make the necessary changes.

In order to assure your success, you need to receive the Spirit of God through baptism. On your own, you cannot change from your bestial state. It is impossible. Only the Holy Spirit can convert you into the Godly state.

After you make the necessary changes, you would no longer follow the Beast. You would be headed toward eternal life as either a resurrected person or a raptured person at the return of Jesus in 2022 AD.

In summation, the year 2012 is the most important year in your life if you desire to have eternal life. If you do not, then it is just another year. Oblivion awaits you at death.

UNSEALED BIBLE PROPHECY IS THE GOLDEN OIL

If you want to stop following the Beast, learn his identity so that you can begin the process of change that leads to eternal life.

In our featured book, there is research that will identify the Beast. It will take you back through 2,000 years of Bible translation history in order to re-discover the original Mark of the Beast. This is the oil of the Two Olive Trees, which true Church leaders are destined to use to enlighten the way to eternal life.

You will reconstruct the Mark of the Beast as you go back through English, Greek and Aramaic. Then you will see the original Mark and the original words that John used to describe the Mark. Those words are not the current words in the King James Bible. And, the Mark was not 666.

Why is it that none have done this before? Simply stated, most people are lazy. There have been very few people who intensely study the Bible as independent researchers. Rather than study, they made up theories about he Beast that are diversionary.

After you learn what the Mark of the Beast is, you will advance through Daniel and Revelation and understand verses of prophecy for the first time. If you do not first learn the identity of the original and real Mark of the Beast, this would be impossible.

COME OUT OF BABYLON NOW!

Daniel and John wrote complementary versions of world history. Their accounts show how the world is like a tree. That tree is Babylon. The whole world has been part of Babylonian culture. Dictatorship is the primary characteristic of Babylon.

God intervened twice in world civilization to set up an alternative to Babylonian culture. The first intervention was at the time of Moses. Through Moses, God set up the Israelite nation with a libertarian form of government. The second and most important intervention by God was the founding of the representative government of the United States. It was originally libertarian.

God is now taking total control of the world through the export of representative governance from the United States and other representative nations. Europe and the USA make up His base of operation.

DEFEAT OF BABYLON

The Battle of Armageddon is the final crushing defeat of Babylonian culture. God will use the military might of Western nations to annihilate the last vestiges of Babylon, including communist and terrorist nations. Some Muslim nations will be severely reduced in population because they have remained dictatorial in government and religion. They hold on to their Babylonian past.

Red China would ultimately be defeated. Marxists in the old Soviet Union will lead their people and their allies to a disastrous confrontation with Europe and the USA. Needless to say, God is on the side of representative government.

On a personal level, God is against individuals who are dictatorial in character. So a weeding process will occur whereby angels will seek out such individuals for death. Remember the parable of the tares. There will be no place for weeds to hide.

Our featured book could allow you to see things in the Bible that you would not see through any other book.

YOUR OPENED EYES

In your Bible, you will be able to identify Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Saddam Hussein, Milosevic, Tony Blair, Margaret Thatcher, Gorbachev, Schwarzkopf and other world leaders. You will be able to see events that include the Persian wars and Armageddon. With prophecy calendars, you will be able to see the years that these events were scheduled to occur in.

You could also learn personal information about God's Two Witnesses, which includes the day that Gabriel first visited them in 1991. Gabriel describes the merciless beatings that Satan has given them in his attempt to prevent their upcoming ministry.

Forefather prophecy calendars are natural complements to our books about God's Two Witnesses. Our calendars give dates, while our books tell you what will happen and why it will happen.

GOD & YOU- INTIMATE FRIENDS

The why part is an examination of the very heart and mind of God Himself. You could have a very personal understanding of God, whom you are a replicate of. You could know how the brain of God works. You could know how the emotions of God work. If you need a father figure, why not take on the attributes of God the Father?

WHEN WILL ARMAGEDDON HAPPEN?

After you learn what and why of 6,000 years of world civilization, you will need to know when end-time events will occur. This is the value of our prophecy calendars. They give dates. You do not want to be in a city that has ICBM's aimed at it.

I hope this article has given you a panoramic view of end-time years that includes the year 2012. I hope that you see the spiritual significance of upcoming events that have been prophesied for thousands of years.
